the captain has now dimmed the lights for take off this is a routine procedure for flights during the hours of darkness!

People wearing these kind of shoes had to undergo special checks before, at least on flight to the UK and the USA. Security is "tough" already and the UK Police and Intelligence has done a good job. Terrorists must be captured before they reach airports and that requires undercover investigation and surveillance as well as international cooperation.

Harassing the general travelling public more than it is done already these days is not the answert, pinpointing certain groups is.

Seriously, in my opinion there will always be an opportunity for the bad guys to get hazardous material on board, so all of us good guys might as well try to be as comfortable as possible and stop taking all this crap governments are feeding us about security while implementing truly orwellian surveillance to their own benefit.

Personally, I just want to fly - I don't give a hoot about security.
