As it stands right now, here are the sked flights fromm YEG to the US

SEA: 3 dailies (Alaska)
SFO: 1 daily (United Ex)
LAX: 1 daily (Air Canada)
ORD: 2 dailies (United Ex)
DEN: 3 dailies (United Ex)
SLC: 2 dailies (Delta)
MSP: 2 dailies (NWA)
PSP: 3 weeklies (West Jet)
LAS: 1 daily (US), 1 daily (West Jet), 2 weeklies (Air Canada)
PHX: 1 daily (US), 4 weeklies (West Jet)
HNL/OGG: 1 weekly (Hamrmony)

While, I really think that this is much better than what YEG had two or three years ago, there still remains major gaps in the service particularly to Texas, better service to Cali and better service to Hawaii.

Any rumours of new service, upgrade....

If DL didn't have such a mainline equipment shortage (MD-90s, 738s, 752s) I've heard that YVR, YYC as well as YEG could get some upgrades to mainline service on DL to SLC. Keep in mind that Edmonton is Canada's largest city most removed from the US border, something that not even Calgary (their hated Alberta rivals!) can claim not to mention Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg or Vancouver.

How about charters this winter. Where will Skyservice be flying to in Mexico or the Caribbean from YEG for Signature or SunQuest?

They could at least increase frequency to YEG, that route is so full all the time.

You are right, it is on Horizon, with a code share on AS, obviously. Normally on DHC8-400's.... I have seen CRJ700's lately.

Any rumours of CO returning the IAH flight at a decent time? I'd heard some around Houston a few weeks ago and some in Edmonton in June. But mainly just hope/chatter.

I was under the impression that AC jazz believe it or not was looking at the YEG-IAH route with a CRJ-705.Likely a once daily flight but that was the word we got...For CO to drop the route and return in a year seems a little off...

YEG is a bit of a way from ski resorts.

YEG is the gateway to Jasper which is a popular ski destination that is gaining attention as more is developed.

that's interesting given that there's no potential connection for AC at IAH...It would make much more sense for CO to bring the route back..(but that is unlikely)

Unless there is a co/ua merger Smile Hope to see more expansion news on the transborder front as these flights are so expensive and booked to capacity at the moment. I know people driving to YYC because of prices being lower and not having to book so far in advance to be guarenteed a seat.

Calgary is the gateway to Banff.Edmonton is the gateway to the Jasper region and with plans to open up 2-3 new ski resorts in that area in the next 5 yrs we can expect to see the market open up even more...Aeromexico is already running a summer charter program into YEG with 757s and the flights are full and have infact been overbooked a couple times stranding some mexicans here for a little longer...The mexicans love these flights which take them to Jasper,W.E.M,and into the rest of the rockies. Some people have stated that these flights were for farmers coming to work in AB,thats not the case these are upscale mexican tourist's.Also we can expect to see the Polar express ANA charters again this winter with a little frequency as they also proved to be very popular.

Plus you can fly from DEN to Aspen and Vail, you can't fly to Jasper. I am glad that YEG is being noted as a Gateway to Jasper finally, plus to the North country of Canada. Glad to see ANA back with charters from Japan (Hiroshima again?) plus great to see Aero Mexico flights in the winter.

I unlike others, would be surprised if Continental didn't show back up in YEG. Continental schedule into YEG was horrible, the NWA route is booked solid, so with more aircraft coming online with Continental maybe 2007 YEG will see a return from IAH?

To quote Wolsingjet from another thread Alot of people didnt think our U.S market would do much either and look at it now,the U.S. market is still growing and infact the airline that I represent at YEG is adding yet another U.S destination in the spring.

Interesting! There has been a lot of expansion on routes to the western USA recently, so I'd be surprised if it was anything there except for perhaps Alaska going non-stop to LAX. The merged Usair/America West might be a possibility to Charlotte to serve Florida and Caribbean bound pax. Perhaps NWA to DTW or United to IAD? We shall see.

I don't think it will happen. Although Continental didn't lose money on this route, they didn't make much either. I was told by someone at Continental that more money could be made by utilizing the aircraft elsewhere. In fact, the comment was made that it was unfortunate that the ERJ-145 couldn't fly IAH-YEG, as it would have been perfect for the route! Perhaps we'll see Air Canada/Jazz with the CRJ-705?

It would be nice to see AC pick up the route, just once daily on the CRJ705 would suite this route. I flew today out of DEN and was amazed at the amount of people heading from TX on those flights.
