Did Sun Country retire their DC10's at the end of April 2001? I have a Sun Country April/May 2001 timetable and no DC-10's are listed on flights after 30th April 2001

Did you look by date at SunCountry DC-10s in the photo database on this site? The only shots post-April '01 are of aircraft being scrapped.

Last flight of Sun Country DC-10 were on March 7, 2001.

Registered as N154SY and construction number 48259/357, the DC-10-15 was scrapped last year at Victorville.

Did they actually fly the DC10's in scheduled service? Saw one in TUL once. Think it was a charter headed for LAS.

I wish SY had painted at least one of the DC-10s in the new color scheme before retirement, but of course that didn't make economic sense and didn't happen, but that would be a very cool scheme for a DC-10!

When i first started going to LAS in the 90's they were common sights. Now there are only FX and Omni 10's. I agree with Alex , the -10 would have looked sweet in n/c.

I loved the DC-10's on the NW service DTW - SFO - be it first or coach class. I'm going to miss DC-10's trans atlantic - sure the airbus is nice, but on the dc-10, you could curl up on the floor in first class and get some real sleep -

CO's DC-10's are gone, NW's will be soon - will Champion air pick them up for charter?

Omni & TZ might get some NW -10 from what I've read here . Better that then rotting in MBE or GWO.

Ahh--the SYDC10s were a fond memory of mine. I flew on N154SY and N152SY SY9/10 on IAH-LAS-IAH back in 1996. The service was good but they were very cramped--10 abreast in 380 seat config--they were full. At LAS on that day they had DC10s to CLE, DFW, mine to IAH, OKC, DTW, and MSP.

N151SY: 4/22/01 LAS-ORD-MKE-MSP. Ferried to VCV on 6/1/01.
N152SY: 8/8/00 DFW-MSP. Ferried to SAT-GWO on 9/11/00.
