Island Air Q400 Mystery

Yesterday, at YYZ I saw a Dash 8-400 in Island Air 'Island Style' c/s. This a/c was carrying the registration C-FJJG. The Transport Canada web site lists this reg. as belonging to a Q402 msn 4017. However I have seen a photo of a Q402, wearing the same c/s and the reg. C-GAFM. Transport Canada shows this plane as also having the msn 4017, but listing it as cancelled.
What is going on here? Has Island Air returned one of their Q400s which has now been given a new Canadian registration?

Do you know why? This particular plane seems to move around a lot. It was originally sold to SAS Commuter. They either returned it or canceled the order. It then went to Horizon who also returned it.

I don't recall Island Air having another Q400 in service. Nor do I recall any of my fellow HNL spotters ever mentioning a second Q400 being in service for Island Air.

A search of C-GAFM in the photo database shows this aircraft with cn 4017 as a Bombardier demonstation aircraft since 2004.

It was also painted in Qantaslink colors in 2005 for a demonstration tour in Australia and a stop at the Paris Air Show.

In April 2006 it was in partial Island Air colors. Why the registration was changed, I do not know, but I don't think it was here in Hawaii.

To date, I've only seen Q402, N539DS,(4016) on the ramp. Have not spotted a second Q400 in Island Air fleet. They were suppose to have three of these 78 seaters by year end. Does this mean Island Air has abandoned their fleet modernization plans and possibly returning 4016 to Bombardier as well  Confused

Maybe Go! (Mesa Group), who started in June/06 is having some impact on Island Air.

An article in the July/August issue of 'Airliners' has a photo of #4017, captioned in part: "The second DHC-8-402 for Island Air is seen here at Toronto in the 'Island Style' livery". It wears the C-GAFM registration.
