I posted this question in the thread started a few days ago about BMed starting service back up to Beirut, but got no answers so far, only people remarking what good news it was.

So I'm hoping to find out--have they actually operated the BEY-LHR flight yet? I was told it would start up again today but on ba.com the flight this morning is showing as cancelled.

Any info would be very helpful. Thanks!

Hi Bombay Hog

Last nights flight only went to Amman-took of 2 hours late and is currently
in Amman
As of now has still not left Amman
I imagine there is logistics involved to get the operation up and going

Tonights flight shows operating but it may change

MEA and Royal Jordanian are up and running on the route

MEA seem to be refuelling in Amman as all their Europe and Middle East
services go via Amman

BEY/AMM/CAI
BEY/AMM/PAR

Cheers!
Tony

Thanks Tony!

So do I take it correctly that the BEY-LHR flight will be operating via AMM for the time being?

yes, it apparently not only is due to the available runway-length is only about 2000 meters but also as the Israelis insist that all ex-BEY flights are to go via AMM, until some "mechanisms" are agreed upon via the U.N. Might be a job for the SGS Societe Generale de Surveillance in GVA to take over !

Clarification: This is not a refuelling stop but a measure imposed by Israel for all flights in and out of BEY to have security checks in AMM.

I think this is just to make things difficult for BEY and Lebanon. A flight originating from LHR to BEY doesn't need any security checks anywhere. Do they really doubt LHR (or CDG, etc...) security?

Just in case France (or G.B) would provide Hezbollah with new weapons via MEA's commercial flights ...  sarcastic

That point really hasnt been highlighted by the media, when covering the increasing operations at BEY. Indeed, you guys have just clarified it for me now and thank you. It is ridiculous. Particularly when one is reminded of the fact that AMM unfortunately was the victim of a terrorist attack within the past 9 months, whereas prior to July, Lebanon had not been the victim of terrorism.....afterwards, is another story.

At work this morning, we were showing a BA ex BEY and AMM thats due in this afternoon. Let me check it again.

anyonw know what is going on with BA to beirut
a familly member flew CDG-LHR-BEY on BA yesterday
LHR-BEY was via AMM
they got off at AMM and they told them that they will not fly to BEY and that they will have to fly to DAM. they also removed ALL the bags from the a/c to screen them then reload them back on the plane
Friend trying to book a flight on BA to BEY and the travel agent saying that i will not advise you to fly with BA as 2 of his familly members flew on BA to BEY and they ended the service in AMM.

Brother trying to book ACC-LHR-BEY BA advised him that the flight will go via AMM and may NOT actually land in BEY and that the service will be either to AMM or DAM. he instead took AZ he avoided ME as the routine was ACC-ABJ-LOS-AMM-BEY

Next destinations, Suarabaya, beirut, paris, Accra

Todays BA6518 ADD/BEY/LON did not land in BEY
According to the BA flight information it said permission not granted to land

Cheers!
