Boeing 747-400BCF

Boeing today re-delivered to KE their first 747-400BCF.

Here is a link on the First KE Special Freighter Delivery.

As far as I know these are the orders that have been place so far:

CX: 6 firm/6 options

KE: 7 firm/13 options

JL: 8 firm/4 options

CC: 4 firm/no options

Total: 25 firm/23 options

Am I missing any other BCF orders that have been placed recently? If so which.

MP will take 3 (ex SQ) if I'm right. First one to become PH-MPP.

JL's second will be re-delivered in Dec-06 being JA8909, currently having conversion at XMN/Taeco.

The article mentions something about a freighter kit. Does anyone know what exactly is included in this conversion kit? Window plugs, extra cargo doors...?

Yes Guggenheim have ordered 5 x 744BCF and 2 x 744 Combi-Freighter conversions for a total of 7.

It would appear that QF may well be added to the 744BCF list shortly too.

Never knew that much went into converting a passenger aircraft for cargo. This sounds complicated and very time consuming. Is the finished product the same empty weight as a factory build cargo version? Would there be certain items from the passenger version that cannot be removed but serve mo purpose in cargo hauling?

The factory version is slightly heavier due to the nose cargo door.
