I guess since they failed with B6, the IAM is still looking for their pound of flesh. They had a representive welcoming CO employees as the got off the employee bus today at Terminal A. I haven't made it to EWR Terminal C yet, but no doubt they were there. They had a poster showing a potential "union" between the two...Interesting to see where this will go!

Out of curiosity, whom were they "recruiting?"

Continental Customer Service and Ramp Agents...what was most suprising was that there was a female continental agent actually in uniform helping them recruit other employees....

I thought they voted -no- on the union thing earlier this year or end of last year?

Was that with a different union?

The fact that doing this is legal, harassing employees as they come in to work, is joke. The unions are blood sucking organizations who produce nothing and all they are after are the Dues from the employees, not to mention initiation fees. I hope the CO employees are smarter than this and do not allow the IAM cancer any opportunity to enter their airline.

If Continental Agents are wondering how the IAM is they should just ask their Flight Attendants as the IAM does "represent" them......

This is about the 4th time IAM has tried this with CO Ramp/ATO Agents. They've failed, fortunately, every time.

Yet the airlines are any better? From what I read about NW, it sounds like they're EVEN WORSE...  Yeah sure

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

that may be true with NW..............but CO has been extremely fair and truthful with their employees. the ramp agents really dont stand to gain anything once joining a crappy union like the IAM except less money when their monthly paychecks come.

okay, I'm waiting for the rich to spread the wealth around to me. Please mail your checks to my house.

Since all the rumors are CO being folded into UA then it stands to reason that the union representing UA CS and Ramp is recruiting at CO. Guess this is more proof for those who think it will happen.

Unions can be a good deal--For the Unions!

My other job just voted in a union 'cause a bunch of the younger guys thought they could get more for us. We were "certified" by the Labor Council on April 20 and are responsible for monthly dues of $38. So far the employer had not recognized the representation and we have no contract--yet the Union still gets their money--all $152 so far!

Hey guys and gals, if you really feel CO is unfair to you, why not organize, pool your money, and have a private labor attorney represent you.

Before you vote union, think about why they want YOU! They're shrinking and need YOUR money! Look at what the Union has accomplished at the other airlines.

What will the Union do for you? The only thing for sure is they will get you hard earned money! Each and every month!

TWU is lobbying for the Ramp in EWR and IAM is lobbying for Customer Service. The CO F/A's are represented by IAM already.

Just a coincidence. TWU and IAM have been trying for a while, long before chatter of a possible CO/UA connection.
