Another 747 At OPF To Be Scrapped (EC-IPN)

Air Plus Comet's B747-212B EC-IPN flew into Opa-locka Scrapping Airport  Smile this afternoon around 2:20pm after a short hop from MIA. I presume they had to clear ICE at MIA instead of OPF. My scanner was off so I missed getting a last airborne shot of it going over my home. I did hear it go over though and checked FBOweb to see what it was.

It is now parked close to the easternmost scrap yard on the north side of the airport next to the Air Lib Express DC-10.

A sad but typical end for all aircraft.... BTW, what ever happened to the tradewinds B747 that aborted take off and crashed/run-over-runway in MDE? I heard they were going to scrap the thing right there and then, but did they actually scrap the airplane in the spot or first moved it somewhere else? Anyone seen any pictures of how it looked after the crash?

Yup...... they did - within a couple of weeks. I'm off out and can't find the link for you, but there were pics supplied on the original link. Very sad considering that it was a relatively new aircraft for Trade Winds.

This one used to be LV-YPC with AR, if I am not mistaken. Sad to see her go.
