My friend flew from Brownsville, TX to Honduras in a helicopter and he took this picture of a 727 somewhere in Tampico, Mexico. Anyone have any idea where this is? And more importantly why there is a 727 parked there? Looks like maybe a memorial?
In 1921, Mexican commercial aviation started there.
Maybe that has something to do with it?

I'm not sure, but it could be c/n 19427/375.
This is a B727-064 with the former registration XA-RRB. This aircraft was delivered to Mexicana (as XA-SEM), later it was in service with the Fuerza Aérea Mexicana (as XC-FAC and then as TP-10502) and it's last operator was TAESA (as XA-RRB).
But, the 19427/375 was also reported at Leon City - not sure which is correct...

Are you sure that it is a -100? The picture is a bit rough, but it looks like it could be a -264 to me. The #2 inlet is round as opposed to oval, it has the aft service door, and the wing tips end prior to the outboard engines. I know I'm nit picking, but it may help discover the identity of the airplane.

The plane is XA-MEB B727-264 cn21837/1545, ex MX, it was donated to Tampico´s goverment, as part of MX plan of retire some planes to museums or parks like XA-MEE at "mundo de adeveras" in MTY, the plane is fully white except for the tail, it´s now wearing the title "Metropolix" interactive park, it´s sitting next to the "Parque Metro" in the zone of the Carpenter Lagoon -Laguna del Carpintero, arriving from the airport you take the Lopez Mateos blvd and you´ll see it, it its before arriving to downtown, i´m uploading a picture to myav to post it later, went to TAM in may and took the picture of it, it´s closed to public, but you can get near the airplane.
