DL Connection F8 Doing ATL-MIA?

Just wondering, I work for a ground transportation company, and we recently were given a group for a convention. One of the passengers was arriving from ATL on DL 6149 (which, as an aviation enthusiest, knew it was really F8)

But my question is since when has F8 been doing ATL-MIA for DL and why? Is that to place the aircraft in MIA for another flight like MIA-TLH or something like MIA-MCO? It would seem to me that ATL-MIA would be all mainline?

Anyone know?

It has been temporary, July/August only. Ends next week, IIRC. No idea why.

F8 is Freedom Airlines (the US one - not the New Zealand company). It is a division of Mesa Airlines.

I think F8 only flies to TLH and MCO out of MIA (the old OH routes). The only thing I can think of is repositioning. Maybe the reason for only the two months.

Maybe someone from DL or YV can help out?

CHQ is staying DL is extremely happy with us and they are not going to getrid of us. F8 on the other hand in all operations is going to be gone. 98.5% Completion Factor 45.7% OT factor. DL is not happy at all, plus promising and not delivering on the DH8's on the day they were due put the nail in the coffin for F8. Also we are getting alot of our MCO flying back in Sep and Oct.

Are there any carriers happy with YV (or F8 or ZV)?? this is not a sarcastic question, I'm just curious.

Nope. SA)">UA is dropping MESA completely by the end of the year. This was actually verified thru management at IAD. TSA is also looking at getting released by SA)">UA and US in the near future.

I agree with Future FO, F8 is getting dumped. I got offered a job with F8 and rejected it. Thanks for the help Future FO.

I can tell you that CHQ is here to stay as Future FO said. Whether you like it or not, DL will keep CHQ and probaly give them more flying next year. I would expect F8 staff to be relocated.

There's no way DL can dump F8 that fast. The RFP just went out and bids aren't due for a while (and maybe delayed due to the Comair situation). Plus, DL then has to decide whose bid to take.

DL may very well dump F8, but I doubt it will be done in 60 days.

so Freedom is gone? huh. Not according to their contract. DL has to buy them out.

And watch your OT rate plummet when they put you in ATL.

Interesting that in SEC Filings Republic Mgt has stated that all CHQ flying will be transitioned to Continental... so I guess you guys know something that Bedford & company doesn't....

MCOFLYER

Maybe you can answear a question for me,
I live near TYS, and iv noticed that for the forth straight day, Freedom Airlines Flight 6089 has been late leaving TYS for MCO and two of those days the flight didn't leave until after midnight, over five hours late and tonight its sched to leave 3 hours late, Any Idea what is going on, I know the aircraft it uses arrives from ATL. Normally I would chalk it up to weather, but the storms around TYS have generally missed the airport and even when they hit, we still had flights arriving and departing.

Just curious to why these flights seem to be late every day

Thanks

Is it bad that I get excited to see even a CRJ overfly? Man, what this place does to you

If DL does not have an "up to par" clause in their contract with F8, I would be very surprised. I suspect F8 has already violated the terms of the contract and DL is just biding the time to get the replacement lined up. F8 breaking the terms of the contract will not cost DL a dime.

We have been flying into ATL longer than F8, and still do.

Unless you can provide a link stating this to be true, I'm going to call BS on this one. The 50 seat flying of Republic Airways Holdings will be performed on the CHQ certificate. The AA connection flying out of STL must remain on the CHQ certificate. If they were to put it on the S5 or RW certificates, it would again be violating the AA pilot's contract (just like when the E170's were on the CHQ certificate). I don't think you are going to see any 50 seat flying on the S5 or RW certificates, period.

Well, F8 does most of it's flying from MCO and JFK, and only has an OT of 47.5% as is according to others. And I strongly doubt that it's the rather small ATL operation that is pulling down their stats so drastically.

We actually have one of the highest OT performances for DL out of any of their hubs, I believe OO is a slight bit higher, EV and OH lag behind us and F8 is on the bottom. F8 is unfortunately given their notice and that has a drop dead date of 31 Oct. The ERJ's that are going to CO are 20 from the USX contract to be replaced by E175's operated by Republic. We are also getting CRJ's to operate the CO contract as well.

As I said above DL is all ready transitioning alot of the F8 flying back to us in MCO and we are getting quite a bit of JFK flying as well.

GGpillow,
if DL & F8 have any type of service level agreements in the contract then if what im reading is correct(o.t. performance sucks) then DL could get out of the contract with mesa if they are not living up to their end of the deal.but in reality this is nothing more than delta telling mesa to shape up as dl could never get anyone to replace the flying that mesa does for so cheap of a rate.....money talks
