I think 4U will do well on the STR-MLA route. Condor, Lufthansa, Air Malta, Fly FTI (back then) both flew the route and the route remains unserved at the moment.
CGN-Malta seems to be doing well for Air Malta, but I think that the demand is thin and it remains to be seen if the 2 carriers can operate the route profitably.
Ryanair announced today Malta-Luton and Malta-Pisa from end of October and Malta-Dublin from Feb 2007. Will easyjet miss the boat?

Quoting BBADXB (Reply 1): Will easyjet miss the boat?
Last week, there was a post on the forum indicating the now announced Ryanair routes, and also indicating easyJet LTN-MLA and BSL-MLA. LTN-MLA would mean a direct competition between both carriers, BSL-MLA is no surprise at all. As the first half of the post turned out to be true, stay tuned for easyJet news.

Have the routes already been officially announced?
Obviously there was a press conference in Malta this morning. LTN and PSA start at the of October with daily / thrice-weekly flights, DUB in February with thrice-weekly flights.

I did not say that Ryanair has put out a press release. The tender was put out at the end of June, if memory serves, and Ryanair was awarded the three routes as expected last week. As a result, it held a press briefing today at noon in Malta and will probably have its own press relase out rather soon since the first flights start in nine weeks time.

The fact is it hasn't been announced FR will definetly start the routes - as shown by the press release

Quoting Jorge1812 (Reply 11): Wasn't there are rumor about a new Germanwings base in the north of Germany a while ago?
Not sure about that, though I remember a rumor about FR setting up a new base in North Germany, likely to be BRE or LBC. Certainly wouldn't mind Germanwings setting up a base at HAM. These 3 new destinations are nice, but the more the merrier .

Quoting Jorge1812 (Reply 11): Expect more and more CFU shots on Anet next year...destination starting to loose it's virginity.
I doubt it - it is more a charter airline-type of operation with one flight a fleek on Saturday evening. As far as I understand, up to 3/4 of the seats to destinations like CFU, RHO, JMK, SUF, MLA will be used by the Thomas Cook group. So only few seats for direct sales by Germanwings. This is reflected by the prices - hardly any cheap tickets to those destinations yesterday.

As per the Ryanair press release, you are correct. The Maltese press is reporting the routes as confirmed, not as intended, however. Probably has to do with the paperwork involved (subsidies....)

I am glad to see more airlines @ JMK.
this island gets so many tourists and most of them have to go to athens first and then get a boat to there.
there are only a few charter carriers flying directly to JMK and 4U will become the 1st LCC to go there.
