Driving home from work today, I saw this 744 on final approach but could not make out its livery due to the position of the sun (I was driving west, and the aircraft was going North). It had the distinct wings of a 744, and did not look like a cargo variant as I did not notice a short hump. Anyone have any idea?

I'm guessing it was a charter. Anyone in Calagry confirm this?

Is this a regular scheduled stop?
Does Korean Air Cargo still stop at YYC?

JAL has applied for a charter license to canada for this winter what cities will be served is unknown. The polar express charters to YEG start again in Jan,I wonder if they will still be ANA or maybe now JAL instead.I assume YYC will see more service aswell...

Good assumption Wols, Japanese love Banff. Always wondered why no carrier has picked up YYC-Narita. Canadian airlines used to do the route I think, with DC-10's.

Yes,CP flew DC-10-30's from YYC-NRT 2 times a week. They also flew a DC-10 on a YYC-YEG-NRT route. Both routes were discontinued before AC aquired CP due to low yield traffic.Tourist traffic doesnt seem to produce much money for airlines...

Yes, the said above is true.
Both Japan Airlines and All Nippon flew into Calgary for tourist charters for August and it turned out rather well. The 2100 or so which was expected made their way through the city and into the rockies.

What lineups in the terminal though. Those were the only 747-400 flights while all others are cargo purposes like Cargolux and Asiana. Sometimes you will see daytime arrivals if they are late.

Quoting 777way (Reply 6):

A small correction: Asiana Cargo started flying into YYC only weeks after KE Cargo did. They were both flying in for some time until KE Cargo called it quits. Possibly due to competition from Asiana Cargo. So it wasn't one taking the route over from another.
