So, we're seeing the ex-HP 737s painted then? I assume that means that US will keep 737s, and that 737s will be painted in a hurry now?

How many jets are still in HP colors? (Besides the "Heritage" jet)

Seriously though, I can't wait to see how it turns out. This first plane will take the longest because they are setting up the design on the 737 for the first time. The next ones shouldn't take as long. Right now only 1 will be painted at a time but in October, 2 will be done at a time.

Nice to see that we will be able to see those bords in the new colors soon. Some of those 737's were looking pretty beat up before.

What is the word on how many US 737s are going to be repainted? I assume that the ex-HP birds will be painted prior to the US-East ones for corporate image purposes.

Probably all of them. US hasn't said it is dumping the 737s. That would be a major pilot hissyfit if/when they say that. Also, the "repaint schedule" graphics in various newsletters depict a fleet that includes all current aircraft (376 or whatever), not some fraction thereof.

How come US Airways are taking 737's from BMI Baby?

I thought BMI Baby were expanding their fleet of 737's and not selling them and also thought US Airways were not interested in taking anymore 737's and were increasing their fleet with A320's.

Im confused...

I believe that is just his signature. I doubt US Airways wants any 737's.

New paint doesn't necessary mean that they'll be keeping them. As much as I like to see the Boeings on the US fleet.

TG painted their MD-11's in the new livery and they got rid of them less than a year afterwards...

That seems like an awful long time to paint a small aircraft. For reference, it takes DL about 7 days to repaint a 767.

Looking at the paint/mx schedule layout, this fall is going to be quite busy. Many stations are losing flights over fall to cover for all the planes that will be in the paint shop.

I think it's taking such a long time because they also have to perform heavy mx checks on the planes as well, and it can't be done the same time as painting.

This being the first 737 painted in the livery, it would naturally take longer to make sure every thing matches up correctly. Every aircraft thereafter should require a shorter amount of time though.

Also I can't wait for the second HP retro (original) livery to come out. It was originally supposed to be unveiled for an August 1st celebration, but was postponed in order to keep as many aircraft in service as possible for the summer season. It should be out within the next 2 weeks.

Yeah they kept it kinda hush hush, then again, that livery reflects the bad old years of HP.

25 Flyboyaz : I don't think that's the case really. Most of our woes were in the 1999/2000 range. I believe the new livery started in 1996. I am so excited to see
26 HPRamper : What about the 747 debacle?
27 Ca2ohHP : It takes 2 weeks on the first aircraft type, because basically it has to be a custom job. Susequent paint jobs will take a few days per aircraft.
28 AlexPorter : Cool. N157AW is the only one of HP's 737s I've flown on (as HP554, PHX-LAS, 6 Oct. 2005) and I found it to be a very nice plane. Glad to hear it's the

30 QFATWA : Is it known if 157 will come back with the new registration of N383AW?
31 HPRamper : Nope, they will only have one Piedmont heritage plane. Afte this AWA scheme, they are done.
32 ERAUgrad02 : Well that sux. They should have used a 737-300/-400 for that scheme from the begining. just my .02

36 Post contains images COERJ145 : Now that is one good looking 737! Too bad the 732s were retired, I would have loved to see a 732 in the new livery.

38 COERJ145 : HP 732s were retired not that long ago(1.5yrs)
39 MCOflyer : I'm glad to see it was done in MIA. I hope the 733 stays in the fleet for at least 4yrs. MCOflyer
40 BatonOps : I was in LAS this weekend and saw numerous America West Airbus A319's and A320's painted in the new color scheme. Too bad my old US 757 was still in t

45 ERAUgrad02 : The plane looks great. Cant wait to see them in ILM. Even tho it may be a while since we only get -400s.
46 Post contains links AlexPorter : I believe it came back to PHX last night (earlier tonight): http://flightaware.com/live/flight/AWE7805 It's a non-scheduled flight number so I assume
47 AirCop : Yep, its in Phoenix as of about 2230hrs last night.
48 TropicBird : The aircraft makes 2 R/T's to SJC & LAS today (flt's 282 & 160) then on to SMF (flt 235) before overnighting in PHX (as of now, this may change).
49 Luketenley : Would like to see if in PIT. Looks awesome.
50 D L X : Good point. How come there's no pic in the db for this yet? Should be priority.
51 Usairways16bwi : wow. It looks great. But is it just me or does this livery make the 733 look a little smaller?
52 PHLBOS : I hope some of the US-East 737s get repainted soon. Many of the US 734s at PHL are literally screaming REPAINT ME! I was wondering what happened rega

56 Supa7E7 : Starting now, I think US will be painting a great many aircraft all winter long. They do not need peak capacity until next spring.
57 MIAMIx707 : I saw it when it was still in AW paint getting stripped at MIA. I can't remember America West 737s at MIA... they sent A320s before the A319s came in.
58 Post contains images Revelation : I usually don't make postings about liveries, but that photo does look fabulous! I tip my hat to the artists and painters!
59 MIAMIx707 : r on I fail to see what's so incredible of a white plane with a dark blue tail and dark blue belly.. haven't we seen very similar liveries "a few time
60 WesternA318 : we all have our different tastes. To me, as long as the planedoesnt say jetBlue or Delta on the side, she's beautiful.
61 DAYflyer : Very nice livery. Very nice indeed.
62 Vasu : Definitely... it looks really modernising.
63 HPRamper : Well, except for the winter holiday season.
64 ScottB : No kidding, I saw a US 734 at BOS yesterday that looked like it was suffering from mange!
