On today´s more important newspaper in Paraguay is an interview with the director of Paraguay´s DGAC (civil aviation authority), he says that talks with AA are very successfully and there are 90% chance of a sooner than later return of American to ASU. Newspaper also inform that former AA offices in Asuncion have been refurbished and almost ready to reopen. Also landing fees and airport taxes have been reduced drastically. There is an inminent return of AA to Paraguay?

Would the service be ASU-GRU like previous routes or direct to MIA or JFK?

B4REAL, spelled like it sounds

My guess -- thought MAH would probably know better -- is that, at least initially, AA will probably return to ASU with the stop in GRU, as they used to have, and then eventually, once AA gets the long-range 757 fleet up and running, it will become a daily, nonstop 757 from Miami.

Pz,

That would be good news, since our production plant is in Paraguay.
When AA stopped, we had to find another cargo system to go to France.
It'is more expensive, because we now fly TAM to EZE an then EZE- CDG with AF. TAM-EZE is Fokker 100 so we need several planes to gather the cargo in EZE.

Before, we used the flight ASU-GRU-MIA and then MIA-CDG
no unloading in GRU so no trouble..and only AA so better prices.

I am going to ASU in November: CDG-EZE-ASU

Although, on balance, I think it is far, far more in Asuncion's (and Paraguay's) best interests to have American serving ASU. ASU need AA much more then AA needs ASU, as evidenced by the apparently very agressive campaign of the local authorities there desperately trying to get AA back.

Initially it would like be via GRU again, as they don't have many spare aircraft to make it non-stop. In the future (and not the far-off future at that), this would most likely be a non-stop 757.
