Reported in the media recently is that Brett Godfrey CEO of Virgin Blue is to be appointed to the board of Westjet.

Then reported is that Westjet is going into talks with Oneworld.

With Virgin Blue being the main competitor to Qantas and Qantas being a founding member of Oneworld, can this have an effect on the asperations of Westjet joining the alliance.

Doubt it. It is a pretty petty connection. WestJet isn't likely to have any relationship with Virgin Blue any time soon. In any case, there are plenty of examples of alliance members having bilateral alliances with rival alliance carriers.

Does anyone think Virgin Blue may join Star Alliance?

I am pretty sure they already have a relationship with Virgin Blue and their new reservation system...

I may be mistaken.
