The last I heard, Olympic was going to turn into Parthenon Airlines in early fall. However, nothing seems to have changed. I wanted to buy some tickets on the airline in early October because they are cheap. Anyone know of any changes happening soon? I'd like to fly the rings before it goes away.

Olympic Airways doesn't exist anymore.
It has already been replaced by Olympic Airlines ... even though the "new" Olympic is not very different from the "old" one ... a crap expensive unreliable airline.

Everyone says this but it's not my experience.

I flew them twice YUL-ATH and the product was just fine. The price was inline with the other carriers and so I chose them for the convenience of the nonstop.

Service was good and all of my requests for extra "whatever" (food, drink, etc.) were granted without hesitation. During quiet time they set up a little self serve food station in the galley where anyone could go there and help themself to a drink/snack. IFE was passable, flights arrived/departed on time, etc.

Nothing fancy, but definitely not crap in my book ... perhaps I got lucky.

yes they are and they 've got a very generous legroom.
717s operate mostly in the domestic routes, Cyprus and the Balkans.

A Greek newspaper reported a few days ago that Olympic will not becoming Pantheon Airlienes and that thisi idea will probably be abandoned.

No definite answer exists about the future of OA however in my opinion the Greek government would try to retain the state airline at any expense.

The newspaper also reported that OA will be starting flights to Hong Kong from October

I hope they give up to make that change.
