It appears that tonights Easyjet flight from Newcastle To Bristol (EZY 573) has been diverted to East Midlands airport. Passengers from the diverted flight will now arrive by bus, estimated to be at around 03:30am!

The return flight (EZY 574) has been cancelled and passengers are being taken to newcastle all the way by coach!

Any member know the reason why the flight was diverted and was the flight being operated by a Boeing 737 or an Airbus A319.

With Regards,
Alex.B

Presumably this has had even FURTHER detrimental effect on their ops, more cancellations today?

It was foggy for about half an hour. Diverting to EMA what a joke, that suited EZY and not any passengers.

Thats a little bit silly, its not like we enjoy having to then be taxied back to base after we have been diverted to another airport. The passengers and crew are in the same boat. It's a bit of a shame that people think there is a 'us' vs. 'them' attitude. We dont want to make life difficult for our passengers, they pay our wages!

If we cant execute a safe landing at the destination we divert at great cost to the company.

John

But why EMA and not EXT or CWL? The mist did not last long or stop anything else. Holding could of been cheaper? I was shocked that the nearest diversion airport for BRS that night was EMA.

Yes I know a safe landing is what it is all about. But I know for a fact in other cases that a diversions like this could help with operations/maintinance etc. I know of one eg. the Captiain lived by the diversion airport!

Anyway you must love the glamorus lifestyle with Easyjet. That was a long shift!

Well, in EZY's case, of course. They have been cancelling hundreds of flights ALL summer. Why would they divert to EMA, because they have a base there, so instead of the common sense EXT or CWL option, THEY (as in THEM and us, above) chose to do what was easiest for THEM ezy.

Erm why are we all jumping the gun here? Surely the c/o wouldn't have diverted without ATC advising him to do so, and with no other EZY flights, or any other flights at that, being diverted from BRS today, we have no reason to believe that the fog is the cause of the diversion. Nobody on here has actually said that that was the reason either!

It would be rare for ATC to suggest that an aircraft divert.
