Caribbean Destinations ---Transport Minister Lawrence Cannon announced on August 17th the designation of WestJet Airlines to operate scheduled international air services between Canada and the Caribbean countries of Aruba, Antigua & Barbuda, the Bahamas, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, Martinique and the Turks and Caicos Islands. Cannon said "the expanded air services do not restrict how often WestJet can fly to these destinations, which will facilitate trips between Canada and some of the leading tourist destinations in the region." Under the provisions of Canada's international air transportation policy, all Canadian air carriers may apply to the Minister for designation to operate scheduled international services. These latest designations were made possible by the bilateral air agreements already in place with the respective Caribbean countries.

Quoting Antillus (Reply 4): Hope they come to Aruba!! Would love a non-stop scheduled flight to Canada from the Netherlands Antilles. Going through Miami can be such a hassle.
AC already operates scheduled flights from AUA to YYZ in the winter season (every Saturday using the A319). Even though it is only seasonal the nonstop Canada flight is there already. AC will start flying to AUA starting in October again.

5G (Skyservice) also flies to AUA during the winter but they kept flying to AUA this summer as well using the A320. So you can also fly 5G from Canada to AUA. The thing with 5G is that they mainly fly Canadian tourists to AUA and I think they work with tour operators to fill the planes. AC I think has bookable AUA flights through their website so it is not only restricted to tourists flying between Canada and AUA. 5G also flies YYZ-CUR during the winter season starting in October as well so there are definately air connections between Canada and AUA and CUR
