It just doesn't stop for these guys...Any guesses as to where the will fly and from where???I am guessing YYZ will see some,if not all the action to the Caribbean...

Caribbean Destinations ---Transport Minister Lawrence Cannon announced on August 17th the designation of WestJet Airlines to operate scheduled international air services between Canada and the Caribbean countries of Aruba, Antigua & Barbuda, the Bahamas, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, Martinique and the Turks and Caicos Islands. Cannon said "the expanded air services do not restrict how often WestJet can fly to these destinations, which will facilitate trips between Canada and some of the leading tourist destinations in the region." Under the provisions of Canada's international air transportation policy, all Canadian air carriers may apply to the Minister for designation to operate scheduled international services. These latest designations were made possible by the bilateral air agreements already in place with the respective Caribbean countries.

Guess what???I dont like you either...

YYZ - NAS x3 weekly starting in Nov.

I would imagine the rest of the destinations would be for future expansion for their WS Vacations division.

Further to the press release above, Westjet received the licence to operate the flights to the Bahamas on August 31. No other license applications yet.

Note that Westjet already has license to fly charter (unscheduled) to the Caribbean.

Hope they come to Aruba!! Would love a non-stop scheduled flight to Canada from the Netherlands Antilles. Going through Miami can be such a hassle.

It would be awesome if they eventually do the YYZ-POS route. They would give the airlines currently serving POS a run for their money.

AC already operates scheduled flights from AUA to YYZ in the winter season (every Saturday using the A319). Even though it is only seasonal the nonstop Canada flight is there already. AC will start flying to AUA starting in October again.

I know AC flies to SXM.

WS will be successful on the route. Will the crews who operate the route do a turn around to YYZ or layover?

5G (Skyservice) also flies to AUA during the winter but they kept flying to AUA this summer as well using the A320. So you can also fly 5G from Canada to AUA. The thing with 5G is that they mainly fly Canadian tourists to AUA and I think they work with tour operators to fill the planes. AC I think has bookable AUA flights through their website so it is not only restricted to tourists flying between Canada and AUA. 5G also flies YYZ-CUR during the winter season starting in October as well so there are definately air connections between Canada and AUA and CUR  Smile
