I thought some of you would be interested in seeing this short video that I took on 8/31. LH446 heavy landing in DEN after diverting to COS. The landing appeared to be faster than normal, and the touchdown was very firm.

Just a quick comment about LH. I thought the airline was top notch. Even though the 744 was tight in coach (but not unbearable), the service was still excellent.

Hello

Why was the plane diverted at the first point? Was it due to weather or other issues?

They had severe thunderstorms all throughout the Denver metro area so the airport was closed for a while.

I have flew this one myself about 3 years ago and it was ok, i was lucky that the plane was empty. the service was excellent.

on the other hand my wife and my daughter (she was 10 month) flew them last year DEN-FRA and FRA-DEN, in the way to FRA she told me that the FA was so rude and not helping at all, when we booked her flight i called LH to assure she gets the seat with the small crib in front for my baby, but when she boarded she found someone in that seat and they didn't speak English and the FA was insisting on speaking in German and my wife don't speak German, finally everything got through. but then in the next minute another woman she was pregnant and she needed help to put her carry on luggage but no body helped (I know that FA don't have to help PAX with carry on) but then another FA came and she was screaming at her to move of the way and she almost pushed her.

my wife she was really mad when she arrived there, we both flew LH many times and never saw such a thing before even in her way back FRA-DEN she told me that everything was ok except that really what we discovered that LH is really not a kids friendly airline.
couple of month later we flew B6 DEN-JFK and my wife she was really scared to fly again with my daughter since she really had a bad experience but B6 FA was over nice, they really was so kind to her they played with her, kept giving her Toys and snakes (no wonder B6 is my favorite).
overall LH has a very good service just they need to be more kids friendly specially for those who don't speak German.

Regards
TuT

MSY, just curious on how long you were in a holding pattern before being diverted to COS and where did they park the 744 upon arrival? I know that on that same day WN diverted one to COS and one to PUB and I think they were on the ground for over an hour.

So cool that you got to fly a 744 on such a short hop, COS-DEN.

We held for about 25min before diverting. They parked us on a short taxiway which appeared to connect the ramp area with the a regular taxiway. It was the only place we could fit it looked like.

On the way to DEN we never got above 10,000ft. (so about 5,000ft above the ground) and we were doing 320mph the whole way. Quite a rush!

Interestingly, this same flight was delayed over 5 hours today, after diverting to MSP. Probably due to the weather in DEN again.

That seemed pretty soft compared to the one I had at MIA... We also circled the South Florida area for about 1 hour because the airport was closed.

MSYtristar: Sept. 31st...I flew from DEN to OKC on F9 JetExpress. Around 4:00pm that night I learned that our "aircraft-to-be" CRJ-700 had diverted to Pueblo. It turns out (after talking with the crew later on my flight) that while they were almost ready to land in Pueblo, they were cleared to go back up to Denver. Long story short: I was only delayed 1 1/2 hours that night...we were one of the first a/c to takeoff after the storm had passed (using the "Sixteener" - my first time on it Wink) I never did see the LH flight come in...which runway did you land on? (I'd watch the video, but I cannot seem to connect...)

I have to disagree with this statement, entirely. My wife and I fly about 2 round trips per year between the US and Germany on LH, with our now 2 yo son, and their crew has been fantastic every time, especially the ground crew. It may help that my wife speaks German though.

As an example, the last time we were transfering in FRA, on the way back to the US and we had seperate seats in the main cabin. When we arrived at the gate we went up to the agent to see if we could get better seats and before we even asked anything the agent greated us with "Hi, we've been waiting for you. Here are your new boarding passes." He obviously noticed the baby and recognized us, and had already arranged an entire middle bulkhead seat for us. Keep in mind that this is a 4-seat row for the 3 of us. Fantastic service.

A similar thing happend on the outbound flight. My wife was flying alone with the baby and we couldn't book a bulkhead seat. At the checkin counter we didn't even have to ask. The agent gave her the entire row with a basinette. She had all 4 seats to herself on that row.

I suspect that when the flight is fully booked there's only so much they can do which is why since having the baby we only fly during low season or middle of the week.

Like i said above LH is a great airlines i'm not trying to bash them, maybe like you said because both flights was full that's why they treated my wife and my daughter that way(even thou that's not an excuse) but i learned to judge the whole airline by individuals and like i said i never had a problem with LH.
