Boeing's Saddler Gives 787 Update

Craig Saddler was speaking at a conference in NYC and gave the following updates:

Firm + committments = 420
Continuing investment to reduce weight
DEVELOPMENT OF THE 787 IS STILL ON SCHEDULE
Sold out through 2011 and 2012 is filling fast
787-10 approval is for 2012 (can anyone verify this, I think it was missreported)

This was taken off of Bloomberg feed so I will post a link when I find it.

It doesn't mention the 787-10 that info was taken from the headline that appeared on Bloomberg so I can't link to it.

The 787-10 hasn't been launched yet so there's no official date when it will enter service. However if they launch it anytime in the next 2-3 years it should be ready by 2012. The 787-3 and 787-9 will both enter service in 2010, two years after the 787-8. The 787-10 will probably enter service about two years after the -9.

I don't think it would be firm orders but LoIs (which won't show up on Boeing's order totals). If they had firmed unidentified orders they would have been listed under "Unidentified."
