I hope it's Allegiant back to SFB...a quick look at the routemap shows Peoria surrounded by markets with service to SFB, and PIA with none.

NW Airlink back to DTW would be nice as well.

Next Up: STL-LGA-RIC-ATL-STL

G4 to PIE is a maybe. I don't believe DL to CVG will happen because of the downsizing there and the fact that CVG-MLI/CMI were were replaced by ATL-MLI/CMI, so I don't see them flying CVG-PIA anytime soon. PIA-DTW was dropped in 2003 and NW said at the time that because of the close proximity of Bloomington-Normal and Peoria, the former would get DTW service and the latter would get MSP service. Neither would have both. Perhaps that may change.

Any chance this would be PIA-IAD? However, I think CVG might be a bit more realistic. I know that CVG is high on the PIA wish list and with winter coming and the recent loss of STL service, CVG would give a wonderful alternative to ORD for a lot of easten and international destinations. For my own opurely selfish reasons I hope it is IAD.

How about Regions going STL-PIA-CLE with their new Saabs? They could plug into both their codeshare hubs.

Maybe PIA-CLE on Comutair, they are supposed to add up to 11 new destinations from CLE.

Never thought of the one becasue the CLE hub is smaller. If it is CLE that would be wonderful.

However, for that to happen than there would be a new airline in PIA and so far the only news that has come out is a new destination. I take that to mean an incumbent airline would be adding the new destination. We shall see what happens.

PIA needs a new terminal or at least new tile before an ad campaign.

In all honesty I just cant see the money being allocated for a new terminal as much as I would like one. The schools in PIA are in dire, dire straights. The city is looking at too many other frivilous things to spend money. Some how, some way I just cant see the powers that be, in PIA, will ever give the go ahead for a new terminal. God bless the new director at PIA for even bringing up the subject. He truly deserves full credit for publicly even bringing up the subject.

Couple that with a local attitude that the airport would only benefit the rich as they are the only ones that travel, I have already heard that comment too any times in PIA, there will not be a new terminal. A major renovation, perhaps, to remove those bllack and white tiles tha are truly awful. They look like tiles left over from some old Steak n Shake.

SPI recently received SCASD money for their bid for IAD service on United Express. No gaurantees that UA is even interested but I doubt they'd begin PIA-IAD when they could get more money for flying SPI-IAD. Maybe if SPI-IAD doesn't work out...

Replacing STL service could be a 4th daily DL flight to ATL and/or restoration of the 2nd daily to DFW on AA. CVG may be high on PIA's list but I doubt such a route high on DL's. Would be nice to have but I don't see it happening.

Money has already been allocated for terminal modernization. It's now in the design stage. Ken Spirito's predecessor, Solomon Balraj, began the process in 2004.

The plan is to bring baggage claim up to the ground level, and that would mean relocating the restaurant currently occupying the east side of the main building. The main building should be up to date when the renovation is done. I also expect more ticketing space to be available when all is done. Everything seems cramped, especially with the baggage screening equipment. The airport has expanded the parking lot three times during the last several years and now has over 2000 spaces. I'd like to see a parking deck, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

What you have described is updating and remodeling the existing building, which will be cheaper than a whole new terminal building. It was my understanding that the new director would like a new terminal building, built east, I believe of the existing terminal.

That would require relocating the Byerly Aviation business aviation terminal. The airport's master plan calls not only for major expansion and remodeling of the existing terminal but also construction of a terminal to the east of the passenger parking lot (possibly an expansion and renovation of the Byerly terminal) and another terminal to the west of the passenger parking lot.

It may be true that Spirito wants an entirely new terminal but he's never said so publicly, at least to my knowledge.
