There has been a lot written about the NW flight attendant contract debacle, I would just like to chime in with a very nice compliment to two NW cabin crews who flew me from TPA > MKE Sunday night on flts 881 and 961.
From their demeanor to the service I received, they were nothing short of outstanding and exceptional. James, who was working first class on 881, even went and got a blanket and draped it over a sleeping passenger without being prompted or asked.
On both flights everyone was smiling, upbeat and energetic.
I travel NW a lot and have written about their plight. I have observed grumbling and complaining about management and curtness with passengers. But, Sunday night there was none of that. Only outstanding service.
It was a pleasure to fly with these crews and I was proud to have you serve me. You truly did Northwest proud.

And, I have to agree - even with immiment 'chaos" all NW flight attendants are great, and realistically, they have been for years. I fly so many repeat routes that I've gotten to know quite a few -- for the most part, they're terrific - there are a few (male flight attendant reading 'boy dolls' or some such thing next to me in first class), male flight attendant when my connecting flight was late (so sorry, too bad) when I lost my upgrade seat (note - not gate agent, but FA gave away my seat)
But, my support is with NW flight attendants, and I think they're great

Thank you for your kind words. We've been taking a beating in the press, by the company and on the discussion forums. We are out there, and a majority of us are service professionals, also while maintaining the highest of safety standards. THESE are the reasons why we're not backing down to the company. Safety can cost more than money, and for what we endure in our enviroment, we believe that we should given a FAIR and livable working wage. I take alot of pride in my job, and in my appearance. I hope you continue fly with us, and hope you continue to enjoy what is left of our service. I think we will come to an agreement that will head off a strike.

For the most part, NWA F/As try their best to give great service under the conditions they have to work in. While I wish there was more to 'in-flight service' than just a free cup of soda or coffee (and a very small cup at that), they do with what they got.
That being said, there are a few crabby ones out there. I experienced one who was coming out his weave in the back of the DC9 and gave me attitude when I asked him to move so I could use the bathroom. The nasty bitter queen threw shade left and right until we landed in DTW. I should have gotten his name...

Credit needs to be given where credit is due. I agree with Jetjack, the NW FA's have taken a beating, yet the majority leave it all at the door, and provide great service. I've flown in WBC back and forth from Europe about a dozen times this summer and every single one of my flights has been great. The FA's have been friendly, helpful, and provide a consistent product.

boy dolls or not, I'm sticking with NW, and a large part of that is because of the flight attendants. Yep, there are some lousy ones (have a few in mind) but 90% of them are just great, totally professional, and fun to travel with
