D concourse is all torn up in STL now. Rumor has it new everything overthere, jetways, carpet screens etc. Anyone know what is up? Any update?

Boeing nut is the only STL insider left on this board. He pops in from time to time hopefully he can help us out.

It does coincide with what a B6 employee told us in August. He said a STL midwest focus city was delayed, but that it would still happen. Perhaps this is what B6 was waiting for? I don't know.

Interesting. It wouldn't surprise me if they are finally giving the D a face lift. This will definitely help them market the airport if the facilities are up to par. I really think if we are to see any new airline it is going to be JetBlue, but when? Anyone been through there (D) to determine if this is true?

Maybe B6 and F9 are going to take over the Concourse and make a nice little focus city there. B6 having some JFK, BOS, IAD, MCO flights plus maybe some other randoms like BUF, MSY, or some other smaller city they can link it with.

Except none of those gates are currently being used, and none of the other carriers have yet to show interest in moving to those gates.. (not including the f9 gates, as those don't need renovation)

When I flew out on f9 a couple weeks ago, I noticed some electrical trucks as well... Also there was patchwork on the ramp... Though I didn't venture down past the F9 gates bc it was an early flight and I was too tired..

Edit: You know, if B6 does enter STL, I give myself all credit, because back in the day, when B6 first started, I sent an e-mail to them telling them to come to STL...  Wink

I thought that some airlines were moving to 'D' from 'A' for a refurb of the 'A' terminal. I was in 'D' last week and nothing was being done. The 'Cheers' bar had about 3 people in it and the rest of the places were closed.

I'm not so sure if any new cities will be announced this year. Usually by this time of year, all new cities that are set to behin by Dec. 31 would have been announced. But then again, you never know what jetBlue has in store for us!

Maybe STL or another city will be announced soon but for start in very early 2007?

Off topic, but just wanted to say hi to Tom, a jetBlue inflight crewmember who was on my flight yesterday (15, JFK-FLL). Tom...if you're reading this, join the site already!!!

Somewhat on topic, in regards to STL anyway, I was thru there last week on my way from the desert. My Pop has been in and out of the hospital from a brain tumor and related, so I diverted in for a few days.

Anyhow I flew out last Tuesday on an AA non-rev pass on a STL-DFW-PNS and got my first look at "C" since most of the work was done. I had to say I was impressed with what I saw, new carpets, color-coded AA blue and gray on the walls, LCD monitors, and most of all a very busy concourse. I took a few pics with my cheap digital camera...

The gate monitors and the departure screens looked awesome. As Boeing Nut alluded to here several weeks ago, the C Customs looks like it is coming back, albeit for a temporary time as shown in the photos. The end of C still looks a mess, there was absolutely nothing going on in that end of the building while I was there.

As an added bonus that day, I was scheduled to fly to DFW on a 757 at 1pm, but they substituted a 767-300 and it was completely full, I got the last seat in First in 2D. You can tell they don't get many widebody subs there these days, the CSA's were all geeked up about it...lol With a rolling take-off from the new Runway 29, it was a very good day..

WOW! He sure did! I fly STL-DFW half the time for THAT reason, in hopes they'd sub a 767 in place!

I didn't realize they were working in the Main Terminal as well! I only saw them in the East Terminal.

If they enter STL, could they open up more midwest destinations? I could see them using that as a major focus connecting city for cities in IN,OH and MI using the E-190's

That is wierd, LUV is the New York Stock Exchange ticker for Southwest Airlines.

DAL is the code for Love Field.

DAL is the code for Love Field.

Correct, although on the gate and boarding passes it is written as DALLAS/LOVE FIELD.

I havent seen the airport code anywhere except naming the actual airport code.

Haven flown both AA and WN to DAL both have DAL on ticket stub and DALLAS/LOVE FIELD on the gate.

AA didn't refer to anything... The airport typed these, not AA.

AA only owns/operates the monitors outside of the big B,C,D gate security checkpoint... They might also be responsible for operating the at-gate ones too, but maybe not..

I have heard of absolutely nothing lately as far as any expansion or introduction by any airline here. Usually if such a thing is about to occur, the rumor mill is very active. But it's even quieter than usual now.

The electrical trucks were simply related to the FID Screen project, specifically, the removal of the old screens. Other than that, there is nothing else going on in D Concourse, I'm sorry to say.

As BHMNONREV has shown, there is a lot of things going on at the end of C. The carpet is being replaced and some painting is also underway. This is in preparation for all the charter airlines and ATS to temporarily move to C while renovations are done to the East Terminal Customs. The move is scheduled for 9/26.

In regards to B, again, I've heard nothing. Self speculation, but I thought that there was a possibility of UA moving there while the ramp is getting worked on, but nope. I was also thinking that Trans States moved out early so that renovations could be done for a new airline to move in. Struck out there too.

So for now, you know what I know. I'll spill the beans if I hear of anything though.

Well...you can't get all the credit because I did the same a few years ago  bouncy 

It would be nice to have them here...I would certainly sacrifice getting some UA/Star mileage just to fly B6. However, I don't see them building a major presence here unless either AA or WN cuts flights to major cities - and more the former than the latter. Just my  twocents  worth!
