I've been hearing the same thing ...but its from a friend who works at DHL. I would really like to know more on this as well. Is the A300 is their biggest plane right now?

Wouldn't surprise me at all; DHL is expanding rapidly - not only with A300s, but don't forget the BA 757s either. As to availability, the advent of new aircraft is fast making older 747s "old hat" and just as I write this, I think of other BA aircraft. The -100s are long gone and with many over 100k hours, I doubt if it would be economic to refit them as freighters, BUT -200s - now that could make sense and with BA said to be interested in 773s, that could be a source.
It is only one source and there are quite a few -200s AND -300s floating about. SIA still has at least 3 -300s grounded at SIN awaiting new homes. I'll ask around and revert.

British Airways' fleet of 15 747-200s would be good freighters for DHL to swallow up. The fact that BA continually takes deliveries of RR powered 777-200ERs to replace the 747 "Classics" also makes it a viable concept.

Hi
I work for DHL in europe but haven't heard anything about getting 747s. Only 757s and possibly 767s in the distant future. I've seen an artist impression of the new CVG hub and there's 747s in DHL colours pictured on it!
What do you do for DHL? I work in EMA on the ramp so send me an e-mail and i can let you know what i get up to on my side of the pond.

from my understanding now that DHL next year will be takeing on the big boys FedEx, Ups. head to Head and with Dhl buying Danza, AEI. will make dhl alot bigger sense both Danza and AEI are both large air freight shipping companys.
plus dhl is adding more A300 and now there flying the 757 in the u.s. operations in Mia. plus adding A300 service from PHX/LAX/PHX.
