El Al Israel Airlines & Delta Air Lines had singed today a codeshare agreement refered to the TLV-JFK route.
The talks between the two airlines began 2 months ago, El Al who had sign a codeshare agreement with AA decided to cancel the deal after American announced it plans to start flying to TLV.
In the agreement it was said that Delta will purchase seats on El Al's flights from JFK to and from TLV,
while El Al will purchase seats on Delta flights from JFK to Atlanta, Boston, Washington, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Denver, San Francisco, Seatle, Phoenix & Salt Lake City.
Also, El Al will become a member of Skymiles while Delta will become a member of El Al's frequencies flayer clubs.
El Al CEO said today that "the agreement with Delta will allow the Israeli businessmen that fly with El Al a quick and pleasant connection of a reliable and big company, this as a part of El Al's global plan to offer a simple access to destinations of which the company does not fly to.
The codeshare plan will begin at March 25, 2001.
Also to mention is that American Airlines had backtracked it's plans to fly to TLV not long ago, but the negotiations between El Al & Delta were already in the middle of process.
Currently El Al, Continental & TWA are flying the TLV-NYC route, left by Tower-Air who stoped the services last year.
