Really, really cool picture of a lightning strike at DFW as an AA jet takes off.

Won't DFW be closed to all departing and arriving flights??? If not is should be. If that had hit the building, god only knows what would have happened.

The picture is misleading. I was at the airport on Monday when the storm came through. It was northwest of the airport property and moved due east. There wasn't any rain to speak of at the airport itself. It was interesting to watch two runway swaps over an hour period.

The picture is captioned incorrectly. That looks like either Terminal A or C.

Not really... Sometimes parts of the airport will remain bone dry while other parts are almost flooded. But lightning does pose a problem to the acres of re-bared concrete out there. Not to mention the new Skylink system. The lightning rods were an afterthought and most aren't grounded properly. Thats why when AA shuts down their ramp, Skylink goes down too.

Oh how I so miss the USA lightning strikes. Staying awake for a whole night watching one was well worth it, even thou I looked weird the next day
