According to an add in a magazine, the cruise ship company "Holiday Kreuzfahrten" from Germany is offering a cruise starting in La Guaira/Venezuela. This cruise starts every Saturday from Feb 2nd to Apr. 14.. Flights are offered "with LTU to Caracas".
So if this is really true (their website does not mention the airline), then there would possibly be 10 LTU A330 rotations (I guess ex DUS) to CCS. CCS could welcome a new airline - at least temporary.

Quoting RAFVC10 (Reply 1): does LTU operates to Porlamar??
They used to operate to Barcelona (BLA) in the 90s but stopped. Since then there was no more regular flight to Venezuela.
Currently Condor operates 3-4 weekly FRA-PMV.

very intresting, if we could see LTU in Ccs, but I am sure La Guaira is not the best point to start cruise ship, Vargas is a horrible condicion.... lets see and wait

Quoting Chiguire (Reply 5): So this is over - Holiday Cruises declared bancrupcy today. So no LTU flights to CCS !
Talking about a "short-lived" route, VERY short-lived. LTU also used to operate charter flights to CUR and Condor also flew to CUR from CGN. Viasa even flew DC-10 charter flights from CUR to Germany for quite some time to bring in German tourists who wanted to dive in CUR and BON. Sadly there are no more German charter flights to CUR or the Netherlands Antilles for that matter

Quoting Chiguire (Reply 7): This will change in 2007 when there will be direct flights again....
Hola Chiguire, que tal amigo. Do you mean that LTU will start direct charter flights to CUR next year? If so, do you have a source for me as nothing is published here in the local newspapers about German charter flights to CUR. I really hope it is true and that the flights will be operated on weekends when I'm free!

Quoting Thorben (Reply 9): Before I believe what the media tells me about Chavez' empire, I'd rather go there myself.
You are welcome ! Let me know if you are there.

Not necessarily LTU....but I let you know if I know more. But there is a lot of new hotel capacity on the market next year in CUR that needs to be filled somehow. An I learned that the hotels wish to have a good mixture of US and European market, including the German one.

You are absolutely right, there are a few hotel projects under way here but I was only curious what your sources are. Where did you get the information that hotels here are looking for a mixture of U.S. and European tourists, which hotels have said this? I think I asked this question before but I'm not sure. Do you have any additional information?
