I am extrememly interested to see how B6 does at CMH. We have witnessed them start service several places in the last year or two only to pull out within a short timeframe.

I am trying to find cities they did a complete pullout at besides ATL, but so far I have only find a list of routes they have cancelled.

I'll make your search easier, we've only pulled out of ATL. We have many cancelled routes, BOS-SMF, BUR-LAS, BUR-MCO due to underpreformance or lack of planning, but to date the only city that we pulled out of is ATL.

I can't believe they could not turn much of a profit if at all on BUR-LAS... Unless it's already well served by other carriers (WN, US-maybe... I imagine LAS-BUR was covered by HP pretty well, or it is at least after the merger with US...)

Yeah, I don't think B6 ever wants to go back to ATL, and run ATL-JFK, considering they'd be going directly head-to-head with large mainline DL aircraft. Then, maybe B6 would like to see what it's like to lose millions of dollars on a single route...

Well here is the complete list of discontinued routes (from Wikipedia):

Quoting Wikipedia:

JetBlue has pulled out of two airports and seven routes, citing poor customer demand.

* Atlanta - Long Beach
* Atlanta - Oakland
* Washington/Dulles - Sacramento
* New York/JFK - Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
* Newark, NJ - San Juan, Puerto Rico
* Burbank, CA - Las Vegas (ends November 13, 2006)
* Burbank, CA - Orlando (ends November 13, 2006)

So I don't think it is that bad for a 6 year old airline. Hopefully that list stays short though and they succusful routes list grows. But if new cities aren't profitable then pull out.

CMH should do well for them considering not that much competition on the route.

SDQ is the only city to see a pullout other than ATL. This was mainly due to the massive amount of baggage (if you want to call it that) that was seen on this route. jetBlue now serves STI however.

The reason they pulled BUR-LAS is because they pulled BUR-MCO. The A/C would arrive from MCO and instead of having it stay there all night it would run a BUR/LAS/BUR run. Since they will pull BUR/MCO they will have to pull BUR/LAS.

Off thread, but B6 related: Is there any intention to grow ONT? Of the western routes, only PDX and TUS also have only one route, and they're much newer destinations. Actually, looking at the route-map, most of the cities have multiple destinations now...  scratchchin

However, unless B6 gets a "mid-America" hub, the E190's must stay east coast bound for a few more years.  Sad

And my normal comment on how MCO should be upgraded to a "key city" on the map.  Wink

Did you see the thread, "Blue Chicago," about the possibility of B6 coming to ORD to fly JFK, BOS, BUR, and/or SFO? I thought they'd be out of their mind, but then I found out that there is little or no competition from other LCCs/legacies on those routes... Anything is possible I guess...

Opening day for JetBlue in Columbus was a blast. Jack Hanna and some animals from the Columbus Zoo, including penguins and a merecat, made an appearance to celebrate the arrival. JetBlue's signature snacks were laid out for all, and there were representatives from the airport, the city, the media, and the airline there to herald in the new service. I'll have a trip report up, and hopefully some photos, soon. Meanwhile, here's the story that ran in the Columbus Dispatch:

JetBlue flies into town

It wasn’t the circus coming to town, but a water-cannon salute, exotic animals and a human statue mimicking the Statue of Liberty all welcomed JetBlue Airways to Columbus yesterday.

New York-based JetBlue began its service from Port Columbus with four daily nonstop flights to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport with one-way fares as low as $39. On Oct. 18, it will add one daily nonstop flight to Boston, also with a starting promotional fare of $39 each way.

At a ceremony at JetBlue’s gate in Concourse C shortly before boarding for the inaugural flight from Columbus, Kathleen Ransier, chairwoman of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, heralded the low-fare, high-style airline as a perfect partner for Port Columbus.

"JetBlue fits perfectly with the CRAA’s goal of pairing quality service with affordable prices," Ransier said. Port Columbus now has 12 airlines with nonstop service to 37 destinations, she said.
