Eastern was in bankrupty for almost two years,
Delta and Eastern competed head to head in ATL
for many years...(like American and Braniff in DFW).
Always wondered if there were any "dirty tricks"
done by Delta to push Eastern over the edge.
anyone remember any interactions between the two?

Between the Mechanics and the Federal Investigation into Eastern's falsifying Maintenance records which were covered almost nightly by Tom Brokaw, Rather etc.. Delta did not need to put much effort into a smeer campaign or to try to sabotage their operations.
In the end they were shooting themselves in the foot.

Bankruptcies back then were much more of a sentence to death...and EA's employees signed its own sentence. EA ran itself into the ground and DL just sat there waiting to clean up after humpty dumpty fell off the wall; EA fell and DL swooped in - after the fact.
