Virgin and Richard Branson to be commended. Have just seen the report on Sky and yes it is great publicity for RB, however, Global warming is extremely serious and if this is what needed to get people and perhaps even other companies to start taking appropriate action, all the better!

Quoting Nighthawk (Thread starter): Virgin Trains and Virgin Atlantic are to give all profits for the next few years to a charity help reverse the effects of global warming.
Are they mad?
If throwing million$ or billion$ at mostly self-serving researchers to engage in never-ending research that yields no meaningful results except to manufacture "reasons" for individual and corporate philanthropers to throw even more million$ and billion$ at still more research...and so on...and so on is mad, the answer is yes.

So more publicity for Virgin. It's not going to charity either, but inro a fun called Virgin Fuels that will develop new energy sources. Now call me a cynic, but that stands to make Virgin a lot of money in the future! Hmmmm, use your rail and airline profits to develop a bio-fuel, so you don't need to use oil? And who to you buy it off? Virgin Fuels!
Yes, it's good he's doing this, but as ever with Branson it meets his own ends too.
