I fear that this is a very simple question, but I have no experience of Heathrow or BA and I could not find an answer elsewhere.
I have a colleague who is arriving at LHR from HKG (with CX), and at once transferring to a domestic BA flight (LHR - EDI). Can someone kindly confirm that the situation is as follows:
- even with the increased security situation, check-in baggage can be checked in from HKG to the final destination (EDI)
- she will not need go through passport control at LHR, only at EDI
- she must however go through security at LHR, and must therefore follow the UK security rules for hand baggage (one hand carry only, no liquids, toilet items etc)

Luggage usually gets checked through to the final destination. When she gets off the CX flight she needs to follow the signs for the flight connection centre. Once in the flight connection centre you clear immigration and security and then walk through to T1 to join the domestic flight.
When I flew in with QF a few weeks back they were advising transferring passengers couldn't carry liquids etc onto flights departing LHR. Although i didn't go through the FCC this time there was a big queue for security, although it was peak morning time.
Hopefully now, as the restrictions are being relaxed just that little bit more, the delay shouldn't be too bad.
