just curious what will replace the ageing 747SPs of Syrian Arab, as they inroduce new a320s into their fleet.

Personally, I hope Syrian Arab Airlines doesn;t replace those SP's anytime soon. They are a classic airliner, in good condition, and utilized quite heavily. Hopefully, they'll stay in service for a awhile.

Thrre problems here:

1. The SPs are high on rotations, low on hours - therefore not easily resaleable.

2. Where is the hard currency coming from?

3. How much will the US government interfere ? (and that will depend on how Syria plays its cards in the Middle East).

Solve those and my guess would be 767-300.

This may be an answer if a "friendly state" upgrading its own national fleet were to do a deal.
