Apaprently EL AL will offer its FLYWEB service free of charge, from October 2 til Dec 31. On Dec 31, Boeing will stop the internet service.
Since it is Boeing who makes the charge, I guess that all airlines will offer the service free of charge til the end of the year.

Just curious,

Why is Boeing cancelling this service? It seems like it should have been very popular with airline customers.

Dunno - maybe like the Airphone it was priced out of reach of the masses (who have no room for a laptop anyway)?

They lost incredible sums of money on it, with no light at end of the tunnel for the service to turn profitable.

Wow, that really sucks. I thought Connexion really would be the way of the future. Too bad I never got to use it.
