Im curious to know what the fleet breakdown is for Mesa airlines on the United express side as far as RJs are concerned, supposedy there are 65 jets, and ten dash 8 turbo props, interested because of those jets I know there are 15 CRJ700s with at least five more on the way, however these incremental aircraft will be used to replace current ERJ145s. My question is however, are most of those 65 RJs 200s? If so, where all did they come from, they must have all been aquired elsewhere and for the sole purpose of operating on behalf of the United Express system? Thanks for any info!!!

all but 5 are crj 200s i believe, i know for a fact they have 5 crj 100s because they have a next to nothing cargo bin and it can be very difficult to stack 80 bags in there.

Chautauqua only flys 7 ERJ145s for UA, part of an order for 5 170s was the reduction of 2 145s

Oh no! Please do not make this into another Mesa bashing thread.

Mesa has intentions right of the moment to expand its CRJ-700 fleet by three by years end. These three 700s will replace three EMB-145s that will be pulled out of their IAD UAX system and be sent down to ATL and MCO for their Freedom operation there for Delta. Mesa right now has goals to ultimately replace five EMB-145s out of their United system and have these aircrafts brought over to Freedom to finally complete their 30 ERJ aircraft obligation for Delta.

And also F8 is leaving the SA)">DL fold very shortly. I don't know why people think that they are going to still be around. MESA is selling the E145's back to EMB to get some money. IAD from what I have been told by a manger there, will be closed by the end of the year. MESA is finally reaping what they sew. Right now it is costing MESA way tooooo much money to keep the SA)">DL op running.

36 200's (we have lease returned another 100, which is a pain because we have to put it back to the 100 from the 200 upgrade before lease return) with a couple more new comers (I think 2 more from Independence Air)

18 700's by years end (with the addition of N516LR, 518LR, and 519LR)

9 EMB 145's (I personally cant wait till these get away from me... I will take a CRJ over an EMB any day)

10 Dash-8's out of DEN

And that is our UAL fleet as of today

All but 3 of our 700's already are in the 66 seat Ex-Plus configuration but only on one of them they actually spent the money to paint "Ex-Plus" on the side (granted only one side LOL)

Are those three aircraft new-builds or second-hand -700s? There are a few -700s available on the leasing market nowadays.

I actually prefer the EMB over the CRJ, but then again I am a bit biased.

Both. The CRJ is a bad stretch of the Challenger. The EMB is at least a jet Brasilia, and has the same window location and cross-section.

One thing that Bombardier corrected with the CRJ-700/900 is the comfortable factor for the passengers, including raised windows and overall improved interior over the -200. While the E-1x jets may have bigger windows, they are still just a stretch of the E-120, which as a turboprop is already a pain to fly in. Putting turbofans on it doesn't make it any more comfortable.

Rgeardless of the CRJ series they are all uncomfortable. I still do not like the CRJ family. The seats are smaller in comparison to the EMB family of products.

As a flight attendant, you may be able to discern little things like that from deadheading a lot, but to the average traveller, like myself, they all feel the same to me, and ANY seat is going to be uncomfortable sooner or later, regardless if it's a Beech 1900, or 777 first class recliner. People aren't meant to sit for long periods of time.

I think they are pretty close size wise but the EMB-145 seats are softer and are built better (IMO) than the older S/N 200's (damn seat pins!!!!) we have.

We used to run ATL-SAT, I would rather be in a 145 than a CRJ. It is bad enough that ASA runs a CR2 from ATL-MTY. That is a realllyyyy long flight on a CR2.
