Japanese Firms To Join A350 RR Engine Development

Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd, together with Rolls-Royce Plc, will jointly develop an engine for Airbus SAS' next-generation midsize passenger jet, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported, without citing sources.

The firms are expected to make a final decision on the project by autumn 2007.

RR have had a long association with various Japanese firms on various versions of the Trent. It seems an astute move on both sides.
