AeroCondor Approved From Miami, Italy, London

AeroCondor has recieved Peruvian government approval to fly from Lima to Milan and/or Rome three times a week, as well as Lima-Miami six times a week. The next step is for AeroCondor to get permission from the local US and Italian governments. AeroCondor plans to begin thier first long-haul route to Miami in early 2007 using a yet-to-be-acquired 767-200. Flights to Italy and the UK would start in the third quarter of 2007.

I think it's weird and not very economically smart move tpo pass from domestic 732 to intercontinental widebody service. I think not even Aeroperu flew to Europe, why now with AA/LA/KL/IB well serving LIM to USA and Europe?

Not sure if permission means actual flights. Sky Airline in CHile also got rights to fly to MAD and MIA and nothing yet.

It would be nice though, just seems unlikely.

Don't know, but I can tell you that one of my Italian cousins just got a job with Italian customs and says that the old Bolivar countries (Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador) and Peru are a HUGE immigration problem for Italy. The fly there, enter as Tourists and don't leave. The culture is very similar, and since Spain has tightened down on South America, aging Italy is in desperate need of young blood to do the jobs the Italians don't want (seems that North Africa and Eastern Europe ain't cutting it anymore. Eastern Europeans are heading to the Northern Countries) In true Italian style, no one ever goes looking for them. Maybe that is part of the reasoning for the Italian service.

I didn't know Sky could fly to Miami. Too bad with damn LAN and it's monopoly it's gonna be hard for SKy to compete. No wonder they're not flying to MIA.

The Aerocondor news is a great one for MIA. MIA needs more airlines plus more variety is always welcome. I went to their page and don't recall seeing those colors on a 737 before. Was this airline formerly named something else, or had another paintscheme and turboprop airliners before?

Miami-Lima is quite underserved with only three daily flights (4 during peak when LAN Peru adds flights). Lima-Europe has limited service as well.

I don't see the correlation. Just because Sky Airlines got permission and didn't start MIA, how does that mean AeroCondor will? While it is very true that many Latin airlines never follow through with international expansion plans, they are all independent events. I think AeroCondor is one of the most likely ones to go through with it.

Yes, there are significant Venezuelan, Peruvian, and Argentine communites in Italy (mainly Rome), in addition to very large Italian communities in Buenos Aires and Caracas. It is a popular migration spot nowadays, as it is a culture very similar to Spain.

What a coincidence.. that 737 is in the basic colors of just mentioned Sky Airline of Chile!

I'd really love to see those colors on a the 767, very Peruvian and very cool looking. But looking at that Antonov there.. it looks like they have adopted Sky's blue colors.

I really like their logo with the aerocondor letters right under the condor's wings.

It let me wonder at the time when APSA was a regular visitor at Paris-LBG with DC8s.Great time !!!!!!!
