Lowecur,

How do you know it's an airline? You got any inside info?

Just a guess.

I doubt Schumer's office would state a major announcement for rail service or a new operator of the airport, but who knows. Time will tell.

My guess is Jetblue to MCO and BOS w/190 service. Should force Allegiant out.

are you saying that forcing allegiant out would be a good thing because I don't see any positives with that scenario.

My thought was that, since Schumer has been involved in all dealings with B6, the announcement would be related to jetBlue service with RJs. We will know soon.

I seem to recall you chastising someone for making cracks about W. and his Administration. If you're going to suggest that people keep politics unrelated to aviation out of the forum, you'd be wise to do the same as not to be considered a hypocrite - especially this week, which is turning into a colossal disaster for the GOP.

Excuse me, but I have never chastised anyone for beating up on Bush. There's plenty of that going around on a.net and there is no possible way that anyone could answer all of it. The thread you mentioned was so far from politics that I made a comment to that effect. If that offended your politics, pointing out that the President of the United States had nothing to do with that particular discussion, then so be it. It was not intended to do so. Senator Shumer is MY SENATOR, and represents NY. Therefore sarcasm is the least I should get for the salary he's being paid. You do not see me attacking your politics do you? Forgive me, but the last time I checked, Mr. Shumer is considered a politician. And clearly, his announcement is of a local political nature.
If you consider me a hypocrite, again, that's your characterization. I've been called worse.

It's AirTran:

AirTran Airways to Bring New and Affordable Service to the Hudson Valley- Service from Stewart International Airport begins January 11 -

ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI), today announced that the airline will add Newburgh, NY as its 51st destination. The airline will launch new nonstop service from Stewart International Airport to Atlanta, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa, on January 11, 2007. The routes will be served by the quiet and fuel efficient Boeing 717-200 aircraft, part of AirTran Airways' youngest all-Boeing fleet in America.

Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) was on hand at the airport this morning to help unveil AirTran Airways' plans to offer nonstop service from the Hudson Valley. "I have long believed that Stewart International Airport has enormous potential to attract low cost air service for businesses and travelers alike," Sen. Schumer said. "Stewart is the perfect place for AirTran Airways, and AirTran is the perfect airline for Stewart and the Hudson Valley. Companies often look at the number of flights before bringing a business here, and up until a few years ago, people were complaining there was no way to fly here at a reasonable rate. This is a great day, for Stewart and everyone in the Hudson Valley." Schumer applauded the airline's efforts to bring affordable airfare into the city while increasing travel options. AirTran Airways will connect travelers to nearly 40 destinations nationwide.

"We are pleased to offer passengers traveling from Stewart International Airport direct access to Florida beaches and attractions as well as low fare service to almost 40 destinations nationwide through our Atlanta hub," said Bob Fornaro, AirTran Airways' president and chief operating officer, who was on hand to make the announcement. "AirTran Airways is lowering the cost of doing business in the Hudson Valley, boosting economic development efforts, and improving quality of life with new direct service to top business and leisure destinations."

AirTran Airways offers Hudson Valley passengers everyday low fares, new airplanes, Business Class seating on every flight, XM Satellite Radio available at every seat with more than 100 channels of commercial-free entertainment, and an award-winning frequent flier program.

"AirTran Airways is one of the best run, low-cost airlines in America today," said Stewart International Airport President and COO, Charles Seliga. "They are a great choice for Stewart because of their route structure, and we have a large demand for Atlanta, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa. We have a new partner, a partner that the Airport and the community are going to support, market and turn into a huge success here at Stewart."

Schumer has done a lot to bring affordable flights upstate. The only reason jetBlue got JFK slots in the afternoon was the stipulation that they serve BUF, SYR, ROC, and BTV. A gentleman's agreement.

Nice to see SWF attract a new carrier. Something told me it wouldn't be B6.
