I was looking at LY timetable and I saw that LY will only send 757s and 767s to CDG in the coming weeks. The 777s fly to CDG only on Friday until October 27th.If someone knows why such a downgrade?

Low travel season for Israel, typically, isn't it? Fall holidays end in 2 weeks, and then there's not much going on there as they head towards rainy season. Does that schedule remain the same through mid-December (and Chanukah), or is it only through the end of November?

Actually, with the Sukkot holiday coming the end of this week, I would think they need the capacity on the JFK-TLV route until the third week of October? I know that is a VERY popular time to visit Israel, lots of people go.

Ahhh I read his post incorrectly...I thought he was saying the regular 777's run only until Oct 27th, which means they'd run past the end of Sukkot...but it sounds like they already scaled back. In that case, your explanation makes sense. There might be higher demand routes for a heavy travel season, espc JFK. I thought CDG was a pretty heavy route for LY though...I know Air France doesn't exactly send a lot of metal to TLV, so there aren't many options otherwise.

There is much higher demand over the holidays to resort detinations in Turkey, Greece (744's included) as well as London (always) and the US. In fact, LY has run some 767's to Kennedy recently just to add seats for the holiday traffic. The thinner lines (CDG included) are going to lose seats.
