AF's Website Is A Joke

For a top-notch carrier, AF's website is a joke.

I recently flew a DL flight and didn't get miles. I went on the AF website and clicked the link to go to CLAIM MISSING MILES. Unfortunately, you click UPDATE YOUR ACCOUNT WITH AIRLINE PARTNERS and you get an error message.

If you ask for CUSTOMER CARE, you get an option for CLAIMS, BAGGAGE, or REFUNDS; there is no option for problems in general.

Because I'm currently in the US, I found an email address to send emails in case there is a problem with an online booking. I thought I'd try this option because I'd given up on other options. mail.us.internet@airfrance.fr

That email bounced back as undeliverable.

What kind of operation is AF running?

I don't like the site either. I really don't like Southwest Airlines site, that site is a joke! Thats my opinion though. I have tried to book on AF's site before but it wouldn't process, I gave up. I don't like AF's site as much as you do, but what can we do? Oh well!

I don't like their site either..in fact, it was cheaper for me to fly LHR-CDG-DXB-CDG-LHR while booking my ticket on AA.com then on Airfrance.com... spin ..

Try to access the page you need via the USA version of the website; it seems to work for me:

www.airfrance.us => Flying Blue => Earning Miles => Blue box on right side of page

It is true that the US version of the website works a lot better than the other ones. I EXCLUSIVELY use the US site. The German site, although updated, is totally pathetic.
And when I book my Air France flights to the US, I use Delta.com.  Wink

www.airfrance.us => Flying Blue => Earning Miles => Blue box on right side of page

I clicked the blue box.

I clicked UPDATE YOUR ACCOUNT WITH AIRLINES PARTNERS

I enter my PIN code

I get an error page from KLM saying the page couldn't be found.

What I don't like about the AF website you can no longer get seating plans of the cabin unless you actually book a flight. My last trip to the US was on AF and I was able to check-in on line with my e-ticket.

Yeah AF web is crap.

Besides, you cannot even trust the information given: onceI had booked a flight on there, got a "reservation confirmed" message with a locator but when I got to the airport BAM! it actually was not confirmed.

AF022: for miles credit, I suggest you do not contact Frequ. Blue from the US as their call center in Canada is the worst in the world: incapable employees, always bent on sending you a "letter" home with lame, stale information.

When it comes to updating your mileage for partners the whole KLM/AF FlyingBlue system is a complete joke. I sent them my boarding passes from a LHR-AMS-JFK trip (in Y) that did not auto-credit and they 'did not receive them'. Great, so I lose about 4000 miles, plus 2 level flights.

I'd recommend that if you have to send them anything like that by post, that you take pictures of them before you send them, so you have some proof if they lose them. It wouldn't be so bad, but they have done this twice now, and I've only sent 2 letters to them!  Yeah sure

I think most systems for getting miles are quite annoying - especially when you're flying on for example, Qantas and you're trying to get miles for USAirways. Since they're "partners", US credits miles through Qantas, but not without mailing the US and including original boarding passes and the *original* receipt that you purchased your ticket with.. You'd think they would have a better system.

On that note, does anyone know if Star Alliance has its own mileage system? I tried to get miles with Lufthansa a year or so ago but ended up giving up because it was too complicated.

Looks like the seating plans are back up. I looked about a month ago and could not find them, but now they are up. What are UM seats? Some are labeled this.

What I don't like about AF is that they booked me on a connection through CDG with only 45 minutes between flights. I mean, come on, it is CDG airport. Only good thing is my second AF flight is delayed 78% of the time, with an average delay of 66 minutes.

UM = Unacompanied Minors. On the US site you see a smiley face for the designated UM seats.

I have booked AF flights on both the US and French site and you are correct the French site is a heap of s**t. However, the US site seems to work rather well.

On a second note other airlines that sites need help (in my humble opinion) are:
AA - pitiful, embaressing, shameful, website from 10+ years ago
WN - cheesy and "Ding" just plain boring
HP - too much going on - keep it simple and clean
AC - hard to navigate, it always gives error messages
CO - great airline and website much better now after redo but still needs work

The best:
DL - I think the best in the US (still needs work for SkyMiles credit info and partner credits though)
FL - very easy to use and straightforward and clean
F9 - great site since the update but I cannot find the regional route maps now
Copa - best Latin American site
Air New Zealand - easy, clear and great photos to go along

Just my $.02

To claim missing miles on AF/KL Flying Blue programme...

1) Internet - only for Air France and KLM flights made with E-Tkts.
2) By fax or by post when you fly with all other SkyTeam or Flying Blue partners...
I strongly suggest to make some photocopies before sending your claim.
Please do not forget: Air France/KLM flights they need at least the boarding passes but for others, they need boarding passes and ticket receipts/electronic ticket memo.

very easy to use..simple....I like to keep it simple and efficient...

I would like to see them add (economy+) though, as their OneWorld partner BA offer economy+ seating....

I foind these sites very easy to use, especially CO's. I just wish WN would sell multi-city flights. I can find what I want pretty easily with these airlines though.

Boy that really sucks. I ALWAYS make photocopies of my boarding passes and tickets when I send them in for credit. Luckily I'm on DL's FF plan and I haven't had to wait for credit more than once or twice.

I agree DLs website is very user friendly.

Actually I have now used all the FF miles I managed to have AF credited to my account, and now am going to cancel my Frequ. + acccount. Enough with bad cust service and stupid letters.

If I have to fly AF I will accrue on CO, OnePass is 33000 feet above Frequence+.  Wink Big grin

I agree, it appears very dated and templatey from my point of view.
Deltas site is the best hands down.
Out of UK carriers, British Midland and Virgins efforts are noted.
BA is clunky.
Thanks
