ABX contractors guilty of hiring illegal workers

Two companies that provide temporary labor, the president of the companies and two corporate officers pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Cincinnati to conspiring to provide hundreds of illegal aliens to work for an air cargo company in Wilmington.

Those pleading guilty had provided temporary workers to ABX Air Inc. to sort freight at the company's facility at the Wilmington Air Park from 1999 until January 2005, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Many immigrants hired by the Garcia companies worked as temporary laborers for ABX Air Inc., an air cargo transportation company in Wilmington.

"Virtually every one of the 400 ... workers was using an invalid or fraudulent Social Security account number," prosecutors said in court documents filed Tuesday.

ABX Air terminated its contract with the Garcia companies after the Transportation Security Administration discovered the immigration issues during an inspection last year, prosecutors say.

Off topic but ABX related.

Anyone know why the B762 from RIV-SFO was switched to a DC-9, and why the RIV-MHR switched from a DC-9 to a B762? Is there a hub at MHR as opposed to SFO?
