I seen a UA 777 depart from MKE to ORD today around 12:30 or so was it a medical diversion or bad weather in ORD??
It sure was a thing of beauty to see her take off right over my head. Those engines sounds from the RR are fantastic.

UA is a Pratt & Whitney customer.

The weather here in Chicago has been whack all day so i wouldnt imagine that some diversions happened today.

The flight was UA 945, FRA-ORD.

The weather was fine in Chicago today. No diversions were required.

I imagine that it was to move a lot of stranded passengers.

There are scheduled busses from ORD to MKE and Amtrak leaves from downtown, but I would imagine they were overwhelmed with customers over the past couple of days.

I could be wrong. But I think it was to clear a tremendous backlog of passengers AND (especially) bags.

Tired of airline bankruptcies....EA/PA/TW and finally DL.

I thought there were people on the flight. The call sign was still flight 945. If they dropped off the passengers would the flight now become a ferry flight with a 4 digit flight number usually starting in 9***??
Also looked like it was taking off heavy as well.

The FAA reduced ORD's arrival rate to 60 this morning due to low ceilings, that probably explains the diversion.....

If it was flight 945 from FRA, they wouldn't have stopped an international trip to pick up domestic passengers.

Especially since the plane was parked at the old Air Whisky hangar. I had seen a firetruck next to the plane and it was getting fueled when I got there. I could have sworn I seen another 777 take off before I got there but could tell the airline.
