Wow $4000 RT on AM. I bet you could buy a first class ticket on Cathay Pacific or Japan Airlines from SFO or LAX for that price. I wanted to try this out but $4000 is a bit much for AM to NRT.

The Japanese website still very incomplete. Someone please, kindly explain to me why is it that AM, not even in their brand new site for Japan, has been able to update their info for " Clase Premier " and types of service and amenities available on the T7 ?
No, really, how do you expect to sell your product if you do not properly present it and promote it ?
Some of you out there might think of me as the renegade that is always bashing this airline, but Jesus !!!

Quoting LTU932 (Reply 3): No, but it does say that there is a stop, which is most likely TIJ.
The Japanese website clearly states that TIJ is the stopover.
By the way, The Narita International Airport Official Website, in their what´s new section, tells us about the opening of a new sushi restaurant, but nothing about Aeromexico´s ops there.

Ok, this is the published full Y. Now, where are the promo fares ? This is a new flight that has to create awareness and presence. If they want to kick ass from the very beginning, they need to truly appeal to the public in an aggressive manner.

Ok, I am trying to book the MEX-TIJ-MEX portions of the MEX-NRT-MEX flight and I can't get them. I wonder how they are marketing the flight!!! If I try to buy TIJ-NRT-TIJ I get a Y fare of US$5,000
I guess AM still hasn't uploaded the cheap fares and they want to control the MEX-TIJ flight...

Flight also been advertised in several forums stating that AM will be the first and sole airline to provide nonstop MEX-ASIA flights in clear reference to what was announced by Mexicana last week regarding their introduction to the Asian Market no earlier than 2008 and through a codeshare. thumbs up AM
PS I wonder if AM's upgrade policies for Platinum Elite Plus members will apply for this flights. Hope so at least as an introductory offer.

An overnight Pacific flight west to Japan is very unusual, all US and Canadian flights to Japan a day flights arriving in the afternoon. It must be the early afternoon departure slot they have? I thought the return was nonstop to Mexico City, The Tijuna stop was just going to Japan because of MEX altitude.

TIJ is an important industrial center with some demand to Japan, not to mention there is some feed at TIJ from other major Mexican cities like GDL and MTY (not sure what others but I am sure there are some).
Nonstop NRT-TIJ-NRT makes those other services easier.

The TIJ-NRT portion of AM's flight will be great for people in the San Diego County area, especially the southern cities/burbs.
A lot closer than LAX if you live closer to the border.

If you look at the greater circle route between Mexico and Japan, Tijuana is a perfect stop over. The city is booming, has a good number of Japanese manufacturing plants and has a good middle and upper middle and wealthy class population who can support a flight along with cargo opportunities. San Diego-Tijuana is a growing dynamic bilingual region full of people with ties on both sides of the border. Sure,Tijuana is full of corruption and drug rings, but it is still doing very well. You learn to live with it.

San Diego is one reason.
