EasyJet just upgraded its forecast for annual profit after passenger numbers rose more than expected.

Full story:

Last month EasyJet estimated a rise of bet ween 40 per cent and 50 per cent on last year, but it now believes it will be "slightly ahead" of those expectations.

However, a strong performance during September saw passenger numbers increase by 9.8 per cent to just over three million, while load factor on its planes rose by 0.1 per cent.

Overall annual passenger growth was up by 11.5 per cent to 32.9 million, with total revenues per seat also rising - this time by 7.8 per cent on the previous year.
