Update:

The British Airport Authority confirmed that the package was cleared by 1700BST on Tuesday after the majority of people were made to leave the building.

The package was found in the check-in area and police are now investigating the incident further.

Anyone travelling from Heathrow is advised to check with their airline before leaving for the airport.

A report that a man had run up to a desk, dropped off a package and then run off is being investigated, police said.

An airport spokesman said disruption to Terminal Two operations should be expected for the rest of the day.
