I was on UA Flight 56 last night and I noticed we parked at a CO gate. Why would they use CO's and not their own? Does UA then pay CO a fee for that useage?

Test fit of the gate, in preparation for the upcomming CO - UA merger.

They park some of the evening arrivals over there. It's kinda annoying because if you're connecting your virtually guaranteed a long walk.

UA has some gates in that area. there at the end of the terminal though, thats the bad part. gates: 64, 66,, 67a, 67b, 68a, 68b, 69a, 69b, are UA gates that in the same terminal as CO and DL gates. these gates are only used by UA. in my opinion i reallly hate those gates. but ya there not part of CO or DL.

i fly to LAX a lot, and i try to avoid those gates, the walk sucks.

Wouldn't be necessary and that wasn't all that funny.

A whole what? 8 minutes? If it is that much of a problem, United has carts and drivers there all the time stationed at the top of each concourse. Further, you can't intentionall avoid the gates. United doesn't always park the same flights at the same gates.

How do you avoid a gate? Do you check the monitors when you get to the airport and ask for a different flight if its at a gate you don't approve of?

I was going to ask the same question........or perhaps you speak nicely to the check in staff and they get a valet to bring the plane around the front for you to save on the walk!!  rotfl

Oh come on. I walked around every UA gate at LAX in June three times that I could access to kill time before the 11.40pm ORD flight. As an aviation buff it was nice seeing all the different aircraft there and I enjoyed the walk. I think the flight to ORD departed from one of those gates

Yeah I was on a flight from ORD last night and the gate had a Continental sign and the rope for boarding lines and all. It reallhy sucked walking so far but I got lucky in ORD last week, only having to go to the gate right across the 'terminal aisle' from where I came in from, funny thing was even though it was a 20 minute walk from the gate at LAX to the bagage claim and it still took 15 minutes for hte sutff to start coming out, now I remember why I try to avoid checking bagge. Anyways back ot the original topic, I've flown in to LAX on United at least 40 times and this is the first time I've ever gone in to a non United gate, though I have flown out/came into the area where the flihgt I was on came in last night. Worst thing about LAX is that there are none of those moving walkways so you have to walk it all.

United gates in Terminal 6 are 66, 67A, 67B, 68A, 68B, 69A, 69B. CO uses 67B and 69A through out the day also. They pay United to use these gates. If you notice, there are both UA and CO gate podiums for these gates.

And one of the gates has three different podiums -- UA, DL, and CO...And the really sad part is DL's podium puts the UA and CO podiums to complete shame -- they look like they were pulled from a dumpster by comparison.

Tell me about it. I hate T-6. Whenever I fly CO out of LAX I just  banghead  But the kicker for me is pre-security, which takes me around a half hour to get through there sometimes. Consessions are lacking as well.

So did I. Who appointed N1120A the humor guru of Anet, by the way?

The only thing good about DL at LAX is that they have super nice podiums, those podiums put the rest of the airline, and all other airline's podiums to shame.
