The Georgian president, Mikheil Sakashvilli refused to accept 2 Russian Ministry of Emergencies aircraft; one IL-76 and one IL-62 with Georgian illegal immgrants being deported from Russia.
The reason, according to the president the reason is because the deportees are being transported in cargo aircraft like cattle (the IL-76 is a cargo plane). He also stated that he would only accept "normal" planes that have "seats, windows, like civilised people all over the world fly in".
The Ministry of Emergencies agreed today to fly the deportees home on two IL-62 aircraft. The aircraft will then be used to evacuate Russian citizens from the republic of Georgia back to Russia but commented that the IL-76 aircraft was equipped to carry humans.
