Chances Of An Aircraft Losing Control On Depature

Hey guys, I was sitting here thinking, Whenever i fly from London Heathrow to Detroit and we are rolling down the runway i feel the aircraft move to the left and right, This is the only thing that gives me the thinking face on takeoff, The only thing that gives me that worry, I always worry that the aircraft is going to loose control because of all that power, Are the chances good that it could happen? With weight etc...Maybe someone could tell me why i'm feeling this?

lol, No sir that's not what i said, That is usually well lately the only route i have been flying on, Therefor that's the only flight i have been onboard to experience this feeling, I'm not worried about it enough to not fly, Just curious to why it feels like he is struggling to keep the aircraft under control.

It sounds like a crosswind takeoff. Next time try to figure out the wind direction and speed. Look at the windsock, any flags or anything that can give you a clue about the wind and you'll understand . . .

Try not to worry about it, think of it like a car, when driving to the airport along the motorway, your constantly moving the steering wheel to drive in a straight line aren't you? Well the same inputs are needed from the PIC to keep the aircraft pointing in the right direction using the rudder, the runway surface will alter the direction of the aircraft but not as much as inconsistent thrust from the engines which causes the aircraft to yaw and as Edhugo stated, winds across the runway also need correcting actions by using the rudder! You feel it because getting the correct rudder corrections to yaw or drift is difficult and some pilots (I do) over correct which causes you to feel the yawing motion!

Best thing to do, is sit back, relax and enjoy the best part of the flight!

I'm not sure that "inexperience" is to blame... after all if the first officer is flying the plane on takeoff he may have thousands of hours of flight time as it is. Perhaps the word everyone is looking for is "finesse".

Certainly I've been on planes where you rock back and forth on the takeoff roll, but that doesn't mean that the plane is going to go out of control. It is quite necessary for these larger aircraft to track the centerline on takeoff and landing and that is precisely what the pilots are doing... except they might have wind conditions and other factors working against this sort of practice from time to time.

I faced a similar situation a couple of days ago after touchdown at DXB:
The pilot smashed his poor 777 onto the runway and then he performed a sheer endless slalom race obviously using the full width of the "street".
Remembering the "Elch Test" results (how easy it is to get a car upside down) I'm still wondering how "hard or easy" it might be to have an A/C on ground under secure control until a wing hits the ground and it breaks into pieces?

This would be quite difficult in a modern airliner especially after all the wheels are on the ground, the Centre of Gravity is such that weaving won't produce enough inertia to roll an aircraft unless the airspeed increases but then we're back into flying!

Whilst the aircraft is in the transistion from flight to Bus it's a possibility that a wing strike occurs and there's some good video from the old Kai Tak of some expensive wing strikes on flightlevel350.com.
