Could anyone tell me how bad connecting at Newark is? I'm trying to arrange a trip to somewhere and had an option of connecting through Newark on Continental. If anyone could tell me if this is a bad idea if I can avoid it....or otherwise. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Chances are it wont be to bad during the morning but you should expect around a 10-20 minute delay in the afternoon which is probably already worked into the schedule. Not bad enough to scare me off.

I have never encountered much delays at Newark. The past two times I've flown EWR-ORD-HNL on AA, there has always been something wrong with the DC-10 from ORD to HNL. Two years ago we departed exactly two hours after we were supposed to, and we were in our seats for the whole time. Last year they had to put a part on the plane or something.

I fly out of Newark about 15-20 times a year. The airport is a breeze to get
through (don't be put off by the delays). At peak times (early mornings or
afternoons), delays average about 10-20 minutes. Most of Continental's
flights operate from Terminal C which is clean, well lit, well market, a little
crowded, but quite nice a facility. Atlanta, Chicago, and DFW flights operate
out of Terminal A, which is being remodeled, and London flights operate
from Terminal B.

The airport is fairly compact. There are many worse places to connect at
in North America (ORD, ATL) come to mind.

As long as you don't need to change terminals, you'll be fine. The construction and monorail repair will raise your stress level if you try and change terminals. Most CO flights are out of Terminal C.

Note that CO flights to/from Atlanta, Chicago & Dallas are from Terminal A. As long as you don't have one of these cities in your schedule, you'll remain in the comforts of Terminal C and keep your sanity.

I will possibly be connecting at EWR on Dec 22. My incoming flight is on CO which is on terminal C and my next flight will be on SQ which departs from terminal B. I heard that the monorails are being repaired, will they be ready in Dec? Am I supposed to walk outside if they're not ready yet? I have been connecting at EWR once last year and it was hassle-free using the monorail system. I can't believe it's being repaired right now

Monorail repairs are usually very short and last about a day or so. If there is no monorail in effect then the Port Authority will supply buses.

The delay at EWR is long-term due to an unexpected corrosion of the track between the terminals. If you want to connect from C-B, I suggest walking. Even though it is easier to take the bus, the buses board in a parking lot in the middle of B and C. It is about a 10-minute walk over close to a quarter mile. It's not like you are walking through traffic, however. There is a nice wide sidewalk between the two buildings that you could take. E-mail me if you need help, I fly out of EWR 6-7 times a month.

Okay, this doesnt really belong here, but can anyone who really knows EWR tell me if I can catch the Yankees game on Sat. at 7.30?

My flight gets in at 6.30, and I am banking on being at the Alamo car place by 7.30 for first pitch on the car radio...is this possible??? Will I have to run the whole way, and if it is too much, then is there a sports bar I can watch at or something.

Please...Any help...

1 hour may be pushing it, but you might be able to make it. If you are delayed or something, there are a few places in Terminal C you can watch at, especially in C-1.

ContinentalEWR,

Why is it that CO's DFW, ORD, and ATL flights operate out of A?

I fly out of EWR at least once a month.

I agree with everybody, it's a pretty good airport to go through if you have to make a connection. The monorail makes going between terminals a breeze; however, the monorail is being repaired as everybody has said.
