Some news surrounding S. Korea.
It seems LY will not get slots in Narita (Tokyo) so they plan on restarting flights to Seoul. The plan is to sign an agreement with one of the Korean Airlines to offer codeshare flights to the rest of the region. I think the flights will start, once they get some more metal.
Also, Korean is planning to start cargo flights to TLV.
BTW - I posted this in the past, but just to let some ppl know, LY will have to charter flights to Osaka next week.
The first one back will be to KIX - OVda.

Is there any sufficient traffic between Israel and S.Korea??? I doubt it.
If Japan is the target market for this route through a codesharing with a Korean airline via ICN, why LY dont increase frequencies to PEK or HKG and then codeshare with CX or CA for the Japanese and other Far Eastern destinations??? I m pretty sure that existing traffic as well as future potentials from TLV to PEK and HKG will be much higher than the one to ICN.

When did LY serve Seoul? last I heard LY Cargo was operating there a kind of cargo code share with KE, I also think KE Cargo are already serving TLV with freighters operated by another airline becausew TLV flights ahve been on theri website for years.

Yes. According to Israel's Ministry of Tourism, Israel attracts far more tourists from Korea than Japan. In addition, there is significant business traffic between Israel and South Korea.

Earlier this year, LY announced plans to increase its flights to HKG from three times a week to daily service. LY has already added a second flight to PEK.

So far, I have not seen this news reported in Globes, Haaretz, Ynetnews, or the Jerusalem Post. What is the source ofr this information? Do you know when these flights will begin, or how many times each week LY will fly to ICN? I assume the flights will be nonstop, and LY will fly this route with either a 767 or 777.

The 742F are most likely operated for KE by some Cargo airline or even LY Cargo aircraft on KE's behalf, like Atlas do Emirates to Taipei and some other places with 742F, the aircraft dont wear EK livery but they operate with EK code and are listed at their website schedule.

Quoting LY777 (Reply 1): Just a question, why KIX-VDA, and not KIX-TLV?And which a/c type will be used?
- The flights are chartered for a a Korean group, I think pilgrims. I guess they will start their tour of Israel in the south.
- the flights will be on 777's.

Quoting HeeseokKoo (Reply 10): Korean air already operates cargo flight to TLV. I don't know since when.. but it goes 2 times a week with 742F
Actually its LY that offers the 2 x weekly cargo service on 742F. Its flights LY2775/2776 and LY2777/2778. I think they come from Almaty and fly back to TLV via HKG.

Hkg goes 4x weekly next month, they were suppose to go 5x in Februaury but now it is only showing 4x weekly to HKG this whole year. Maybe instead of the 5 X they prefer to start the ICN flights.

I can't wait for El Al to join SkyTeam.
They already codeshare with Delta and Air France. It would be great to have them as part of the network.
The only problem I foresee would be antitrust problems for flights between the USA and Israel.

Then are KE placing cargo on these flights? because their website shows twice weekly service with only KE flight code and numbers, or is Cargo 360 operating them for KE under ACMI.

Hi Everyone ! This is my first post. The flights to KIX (2) will be flown by Sun D'Or Airlines (100% owned by El-Al) hence I'm not sure about the 777. The passengers most probably will be not koreans but japanese.

Welcome - Sun D'or uses LY a/c all the time - alla/c from 744 to the smallest 737. Any flight that is operated by LY as a chartered flight is called a sun d'or flight.
It definetly on a 777.
You are right it is Japanese, I meant to say Japanese. I got confused for a second, becaus ewe were discusssing ICN flights.

Again, what is the source of the information that LY will start flights to ICN? How many times a week will they fly the route and what aircraft will they use? Are these nonstop flights?

I don't know where amir get this ino from. I work for LY, but I didn't hear about it. Let's not forget about the security issue as well...

I asked this question because I have not read about LY flying to ICN anywhere else. Usually, Globes or other newspapers report when airlines add, suspend, or change flights to TLV. Also, LY posts its flight schedules on its website. Flight schedules and routes of airlines are usually considered public information.
25 RAFVC10: Could be these flights the first step to see LY joining Skyteam??
26 4xRuv: I remember seeing it on the paper the other day (Yediot Ahronot)
28 IAD380: Why would LY join any alliance? What would be the advantage? LY has codeshare agreements with a variety of airlines that are in different alliances.
