Quoting Soundtrack (Thread starter): Interestingly, EK if they cancel A380s and order a pax version of the 748 will be by far the biggest customer of both Jumbos!
That would depend on how many WhaleJets EK cancel. Most likely, EK will not cancel all of them, but it could happen.

I think they will cancel a "symbolic" quantity like 10, and order 20 B748i. They got a good deal and possibly some compensations, so the unit cost of the frame is peobably attractive, and if the a/c performs well and the industry does not suddently nose dive into another slump, the a/c would have good resale value. They could either start a leasing arm (a la SALE) or use it for a LCC... we shall see.

Look at the other thread the CEO of EK has just said they won´t cancel any of the outstanding A380 orders and won´t order the passenger version of the 747-8.

That's not fair representation of what Clark said. Clark only said they aren't doing so now, but didn't rule anything out in the future.

Yes!!! The 380 would fit EKs routes very well, but there is simply not enought teaffic to sustain 43 380s in and out of EKs airports. Sooo, i think EK will expand routes in a HUGE way, or swith to the 748. Interestingly, EK has also ordered tons of 777s.

I think that the biggest 748 customer will wind up being BA. There's a possibility of JL, but they seem to want to go for smaller aircraft.
